Maryland coach Randy Edsall told reporters Friday that senior linebacker Kenny Tate is expected to miss 3-4 weeks with a left knee injury.

Tate was first team all-conference his junior year in 2010 as a safety. He moved to a linebacker/safety hybrid role last year and had 35 tackles in four games before missing the rest of the year with a right knee injury.
Tate is expected to miss the opener against William & Mary Sept. 1. The team then travels to Temple on Sept. 8 and returns home to take on Connecticut on Sept. 15.
Maryland’s defense has suffered numerous injuries this preseason. Earlier this week, Edsall announced that defensive end Andre Monroe will miss the season with a knee injury.
The offense has not been immune to the injury bug, as starting quarterback C.J. Brown was lost for the season with a torn ACL earlier in camp.
