Earlier this week USC, lost starting center Toa Lobendahn for the season due to a torn MCL. The Trojans then lost starting left tackle Chuma Edoga for at least a game when he was ejected early in the first quarter USC's game against Utah State for making contact with an official.

Now, let's make one thing clear. If you're a player, unless an official is posing an imminent physical threat, never touch one. It never works out for you, and Edoga deserved to be kicked out of the game for what he did.
Having said that, what in the world is the official doing? He doesn't just grab Edoga's jersey from behind, but he pulls him backward. I get that he's trying to keep Edoga from going after the Utah State player, but what the hell? Edoga had stopped, and then the ref pulled him back further.
It's entirely possible that Edoga believed it was a Utah State player grabbing him from behind because why in the world would he think an official is doing that?
