Pro Comparison: David Montgomery
Summary
Cameron Skattebo broke out in 2022 at Sacramento when he ran for 1,369 yards on 196 carries before transferring to Arizona State the past two seasons. In 2024, he was the most difficult running back in the country to tackle, not named Ashton Jeanty. Skattebo has an NFL-translatable running style that thrives picking out tough yards between the tackles. He only got better as his 2024 season wore on and gained more than 100 yards after contact in each of his final four career games.
About
- 2025: Peach Bowl Offensive MVP (271 total yards (143 rushing, 86 receiving, 42 passing), two rushing touchdowns, a two-point conversion and a passing touchdown)
- 2024: Only FBS player with 1,000+ rushing yards (1,586) and 400+ receiving yards (506)
Strengths
- Bowling ball between the tackles. Full speed into contact
- Fights his butt off for every yard
- Reliable hands to feature underneath
- Lighter feet for a power back. No problem slaloming between gaps behind the LOS
Weaknesses
- No long speed to speak of. Easily hawked in open field
- On the old side for a rookie. Already 23 years old
- Doesn't have traditional size of a power back
Combine Data
- Vertical jump: 39-5 inches
- Broad jump: 10 feet, 3 inches
