Draft Scouting Report
Oronde Gadsden II is a WR-turned-TE with a versatile skill set and solid upside. He runs a full route tree from multiple alignments, using his size to shield defenders rather than relying on quickness. While his burst off the line is inconsistent, he compensates with savvy route pacing and subtle fakes to create space. Not a natural separator but wins with craftiness and reliable hands, especially in contested situations.
After the catch, he’s more of a power runner than an elusive threat, but overall, his YAC ability is lacking. He plays big in the back-shoulder game and shows plus leaping ability in traffic. As a blocker, he’s functional in space and serviceable in pass protection but won’t move defenders in the run game. Overall, he’s a high-upside, modern TE with WR polish.
- Two-time first-team All-ACC (2022, 2024)
- Holds single-season school records for receptions (73, 2024) and receiving yards (969, 2022) by a tight end
- Large, imposing frame he uses well
- Demonstrates awareness to change speeds to create separation
- Wins routinely at the catch point
- Lower-end burst that is rarely impressive
- Not much of a YAC type, goes down on first contact often
- Blocking is well behind most TEs
- Vertical jump: 34 inches
- Broad jump: 9 feet, 6 inches
