Draft Scouting Report
Pro Comparison: Tyjae Spears
Summary
Jacory Croskey-Merritt was a 0-star 170-pound running back when he started his career at Alabama State in 2019. Now he's up to nearly 210 pounds and one of the most dynamic weapons in the 2025 NFL draft. A lot more people would know his name if he hadn't run into eligibility issues this past fall and only played one game. That one game along with his 2023 tape at New Mexico and his Shrine Bowl MVP performance still weren’t enough to merit a combine invite, unfortunately. The dynamism he possesses, though, is going to be a problem in the league.
About
- 2024: Limited to one game due to eligibility issues (ran for 106 yards and a touchdown)
- 2023 (at New Mexico): Second-team All-Mountain West (1,190 rushing yards and 17 rushing touchdowns)
Strengths
- Big-time gas pedal that reacts quickly
- Impeccable footwork in tight quarters
- Adjusts in a blink of an eye to trash in backfield
- High-level stop-start. Broke Shrine Bowl record for deceleration
Weaknesses
- Slight frame that only just started to look NFL caliber this past fall
- Played in one game and had 13 carries due to eligibility issues in 2024
- Doesn't have the staying power to carry defenders
- Very-late bloomer. Non-factor for first four college seasons
- No work in pass game to speak of
