When drafting your Fantasy Football team for 2024, you should never do it based just on one list. Whether it's rankings, projections, tiers, or average draft position, using any of these by themselves is going to lead to value missed. With that in mind, I have created tiers below that are mostly based on my projections. If you use these in conjunction with ADP, you'll be on the right path.
At every position, there's a point in the tiers where tiers and projections must diverge and that is in Tier 3 at quarterback. As I wrote at the beginning of August, Jayden Daniels and Caleb Williams need to be ranked, tiered, and drafted based on their upside and not their floor, particularly in one-quarterback leagues. Their performances in Week 1 of the preseason didn't nothing to discourage me from this take, in fact, I almost want to move them up into Tier 2 with Kyler Murray and Anthony Richardson. Their upside is that high and their floor just doesn't matter that much in one-quarterback leagues. You can pair them up with Jared Goff and have both covered if you're worried about it.
If you're playing in a two-quarterback or Superflex league, you need to be really careful with Tier 8. These are guys who could outscore QBs from tiers five through seven, but I am also very concerned about how many games they are going to start this season. J.J. McCarthy, Drake Maye, and Bo Nix could assuage those fears by being named the Week 1 starter. I'm not sure there's anything Gardner Minshew or Aidan O'Connell could do to get off the list, though I would feel better about Minshew holding onto the job if he wins it than O'Connell.
One guy you might be surprised isn't in Tier 8 is Russell Wilson. I am in the minority that expects Wilson to win the Week 1 job and keep it as long as he stays healthy. I do not believe he's bad enough to get benched strictly for performance, and I don't believe a Mike Tomlin team is going to lose so much that they decide to play the young guy in Fields. I also didn't think Fields exactly made the case that he's fixed what ailed him in his first preseason start. But if you disagree, you shouldn't drop Wilson three tiers.
