We held our Draft-A-Thon this week to raise money for the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, and I'm blown away with how you guys stepped up for such a worthy cause. We raised more than $100,000 to help kids in need, and I can't thank you enough for your generous donations.
As part of the Draft-A-Thon, we did several mock drafts, including this 12-team, PPR mock draft on the Friday before Labor Day weekend. For those of you who say our analyst drafts aren't reflective of your leagues, this mock featured seven non-CBS Sports staff members who donated to be in this draft.
You can see how the results compare to some of your leagues. And I like what Brandon Charpied did with the No. 1 overall pick. He took a Hero-RB approach with Christian McCaffrey, and then he didn't draft his second running back until Zamir White in Round 6.
The rest of his running back corps is Nick Chubb, Chuba Hubbard and Tyrone Tracy Jr. Brandon said he's "both optimistic and uneasy" about that group.
"If CMC stays healthy and produces close to what we expect of him, then that's a leg up on every other team," Brandon said. "If Chubb can come back healthy for the back half of the season, then perhaps I landed a solid RB2. If Jonathan Brooks takes longer to heal up, is a bit shaky when he comes back or simply doesn't have a full workload placed on him, then Hubbard could produce like a low-end RB2 or at least a flex. And should an opening occur in the Giants' backfield, there is a chance that Tracy could step up into a larger role.
"Overall, it is unlikely that each of those will hit to the level that they could. However, cumulative odds may be in my favor that one of them hits to their ceiling and, if so, then fairly decent value was had for a draft that did not invest heavily into the running back position after the 1.01."
Brandon also said he's "simply much higher on the prospects of Zamir White than many, so I don't necessarily view it as a true Hero-RB approach. While I know many analysts place White in that same tier as (Tony) Pollard, (Najee) Harris, (Rhamondre) Stevenson and (D'Andre) Swift, I view White as being at the tail end of the tier just above that alongside (James) Conner, (David) Montgomery and Javonte (Williams) if you place him there."

As a reference point for this mock draft, all touchdowns are worth six points, and we award one point for every 10 yards rushing and receiving and one point for every 25 yards passing. We also award one point for every reception. We feature a starting lineup of QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, TE and FLEX (RB/WR/TE) with six reserves for a 13-round draft.
