O'Regan was sent to AHL Grand Rapids on Wednesday.
Detroit summoned O'Regan on an emergency basis Tuesday, but he didn't end up playing for the Red Wings. The 29-year-old has 17 goals and 48 points in 64 AHL contests between San Diego and Grand Rapids this season.
