  • Cale Makar D | COL

Avalanche's Cale Makar: Slated to be game-time call

Makar (illness) participated in Sunday's optional practice and will likely be a game-time decision for Monday's 4 Nations Face-Off game against Finland, Claire Hanna of TSN reports.

Makar sat out Saturday's 3-1 loss to the United States despite partaking in the morning skate. He remains day-to-day ahead of a must-win game for Canada on Monday. If Canada secures a regulation win over Finland, the team advances to Thursday's championship matchup against Team USA.

  • Canucks' Kevin Lankinen: In goal versus Canada

Lankinen will guard the home net against Team Canada on Monday at the 4 Nations Face-Off in Boston, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.

Lankinen will make his second straight start for Finland after stopping 21 shots in Saturday's 4-3 overtime win over Sweden. With a regulation win over Canada on Monday, Finland can advance to the championship game against the United States on Thursday.

  • Wild's Filip Gustavsson: Feeling better Sunday

Gustavsson (illness) was present at Team Sweden's meeting Sunday and is expected to be available for Monday's matchup with the USA, Dan Rosen of NHL.com reports.

Gustavsson started Saturday against Finland but allowed two goals on four shots before departing late in the opening period with an illness. While it appears Gustavsson will be available Monday, it's yet to be determined whether he or Linus Ullmark will get the start against the Americans.

  • Stars' Thomas Harley: Strong in 4 Nations debut

Harley logged 18:17 of ice time in Saturday's 3-1 loss to the United States at the 4 Nations Face-Off in Montreal.

Harley slipped on the Canada uniform because Cale Makar (illness) was unavailable. However, Canada coach Jon Cooper is hopeful Makar can return Monday against Finland. Still, Harley played incredibly well Saturday, looking as cool as a long-term veteran in a high-pressure situation.

  • Jets' Connor Hellebuyck: Win puts USA into championship game

Hellebuyck made 25 saves in the United States' 3-1 win over Canada on Saturday at the 4 Nations Face-Off in Montreal.

The only goal that got past him came off the stick of Connor McDavid, who was flying at Mach speed and roofed a backhand shot over Hellebuyck's glove in the first. Otherwise, he was perfect and kept the twine tent bricked up with some sharp saves against the Canadian snipers. Hellebuyck has the United States at the top of the tournament standings with six points (2-0-0-0), which guarantees them a berth in the championship game in Boston on Thursday.

  • Blues' Jordan Binnington: Allows two in 4 Nations loss to USA

Binnington made 20 saves in Canada's 3-1 loss to the United States on Saturday at the 4 Nations Face-Off in Montreal. He also picked up an assist.

He allowed two goals, but once again in this tourney, Binnington surrendered a soft marker. The first US tally went under his pad because he wasn't square and in position. We don't know if it's enough for Canada to consider Adin Hill in net for Monday's must-win against Finland.

  • Oilers' Connor McDavid: Goal but game not in sync

McDavid scored Canada's lone goal in a 3-1 loss to the United States on Saturday at the 4 Nations Face-Off in Montreal.

McDavid broke into the zone fast, stepped wide and protected the puck from Charlie McAvoy. McDavid then lifted a backhand over Connor Hellebuyck's glove from the right side. It was a nice goal, and it earned him the game's third star, but McDavid had a frustrating night overall. He was hammered twice on big hits from McAvoy, and he struggled to get in sync with any wingers. There will be some line changes for Monday's game against Finland -- Canada needs to get this guy going.

  • Dylan Larkin C | DET

Red Wings' Dylan Larkin: Goal, assist help defeat Canada

Larkin had a goal and an assist Saturday in Team USA's 3-1 win against Canada at the 4 Nations Face-Off in Montreal.

Larkin's shot was near perfect. He broke in on a 2-on-1 with J.T. Miller in the second period and fired a blocker-side shot from the right circle past Jordan Binnington. Larkin earned the game's second star for his work. Team USA face Sweden on Monday night in Boston with a guaranteed spot in the final already secured.

  • Lightning's Jake Guentzel: Pots two goals against Canada

Guentzel scored two goals in Team USA's 3-1 win Saturday over Canada at the 4 Nations Face-Off in Montreal.

Guentzel's first goal came on a low shot from the left circle at the midway point of the first period that went under Jordan Binnington's pad. It was a soft goal for the Canadian netminder to allow, and it tied the game at 1-1. Guentzel's second goal was an empty-netter. The winger was named the Player of the Game for his performance, and he now has three goals in two games in the tournament.

  • Panthers' Matthew Tkachuk: Suffers lower-body injury

Tkachuk sustained a lower-body injury in Saturday's 3-1 victory over Canada, coach Mike Sullivan told Dan Rosen of NHL.com.

Tkachuk appeared to sustain the injury in the third period. His assessment of the situation is more optimistic -- he claimed after the game that whatever was bothering him was "no concern at all," per Mollie Walker of the New York Post. Despite Tkachuk's statement, Sullivan isn't sure if the 27-year-old forward will play Monday versus Sweden. Team USA has already earned a spot in Thursday's championship for the 4 Nations Face-Off, so Tkachuk could sit out Monday's matchup for rest, especially if he is anything less than 100 percent.
