Report: Hiroki Kuroda could make sense for the Dodgers

Hiroki Kuroda could wind up as a top free-agent option for the Dodgers, a team with injury concerns in the rotation.

The Los Angeles Dodgers could make former Dodgers pitcher Hiroki Kuroda a top target in free agency, according to MLB.com's Ken Gurnick.

Both Chad Billingsley and Ted Lilly are still recovering from injuries, and although the team has grown more optimisitc in Billingsley's status for 2013, it could seek to bring back Kuroda on a one-year deal, Gurnick said.

The right-hander, who turns 38 in February, played for the Yankees under a one-year, $12-million contract in 2012, going 16-11 with a 3.32 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 167 strikeouts in 219 2/3 innings.

His previous four seasons had come with the Dodgers, where he was 41-46 with a 3.45 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 523 strikeouts in 699 innings from 2008 to 2011.
