  • Rockies' Orlando Arcia: Back on bench Monday

Arcia is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Nationals. Arcia had started in four of the Rockies' past five games at three different positions, but he'll hit the bench Monday and may have to settle for more of a part-time role moving forward. With the Rockies recalling Michael Toglia from Triple-A Albuquerque on Monday and likely to reinstall him as their everyday first baseman, Arcia's main pathways to playing time could come at shortstop and designated hitter moving forward.

  • Rockies' Orlando Arcia: Sitting down Saturday

Arcia isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against Atlanta, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports. Arcia went 1-for-5 in Friday's 12-4 loss to extend his hitting streak to four games. After starting at shortstop Friday, Arcia will give way to Ryan Ritter on Saturday. Ritter projects to serve as the Rockies' primary option at the position while Ezequiel Tovar (oblique) is on the shelf, but Arcia could continue to see steady at-bats while also making starts at first base, third base and designated hitter.

  • Rockies' Orlando Arcia: On bench Friday

Arcia is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Mets. Arcia had made four consecutive starts -- two at shortstop, one at third base and one at second base. However, he'll get a breather Friday as Ryan Ritter makes his MLB debut and plays shortstop.

  • Rockies' Orlando Arcia: Slugs homer in loss

Arcia went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Sunday's 5-3 loss to the Mets. Arcia made his second start with the Rockies since signing with the team Monday. He delivered his home run to start the third inning. Arcia hasn't yet moved into a full-time role with Colorado, but if he's able to build on Sunday's performance, he could gain some traction in the everyday lineup quickly.

  • Rockies' Orlando Arcia: Headed to Colorado

Arcia agreed to a one-year, major-league contract with the Rockies on Monday, Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com reports. Arcia didn't have to wait long to find work after being released by Atlanta on Sunday. Once his deal with Colorado is finalized, he'll look to join his new club on the current road trip in Chicago, per Alvarez-Montes. Though Arcia has played primarily at shortstop during his career, the Rockies have Ezequiel Tovar locked in at that position on a long-term contract, so Arcia will likely end up seeing most of his opportunities at second base. Rookie Adael Amador has been serving as the Rockies' primary option at the keystone, but he's produced a lowly .473 OPS over 98 plate appearances and could end up being supplanted by Arcia.

  • Orlando Arcia: Cut loose by Atlanta

Atlanta released Arcia on Sunday, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. No team was willing to take on the money remaining on Arcia's $2 million contract for 2025 after Atlanta designated him for assignment a few days earlier, but now that he's been released, the 30-year-old shouldn't have too much trouble catching on elsewhere on a minor-league or lower-cost MLB deal. Since Dansby Swanson left for the Cubs following the 2022 campaign, Arcia had spent the past two seasons as Atlanta's primary shortstop and entered 2025 atop the depth chart, but he was quickly supplanted by newcomer Nick Allen. With Allen having taken hold of a regular role since mid-April, Arcia hadn't made any starts in a month before Atlanta elected to drop him from the 40-man roster.

  • Braves' Orlando Arcia: DFA'd by Atlanta

Atlanta designated Arcia for assignment Friday. The 30-year-old was Atlanta's Opening Day shortstop but quickly lost out on playing time to Nick Allen and has just 32 plate appearances this year. Arcia was an All-Star in 2023 but took a major step back last season with a .218/.271/.354 slash line in 157 regular-season games.

  • Braves' Orlando Arcia: Losing work to Nick Allen

Arcia is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Blue Jays. Arcia has started just three times in the last 11 games and appears to have ceded the top job at shortstop to Nick Allen, who has produced a .321/.367/.393 slash line so far this season. Meanwhile, Arcia has struggled mightily at the plate, posting a .490 OPS while striking out at a career-worst 28 percent clip over 25 plate appearances.

Arcia is not in Atlanta's starting lineup against Tampa Bay on Sunday, Lindsay Crosby of AthlonSports.com reports. For the third time in four games, Arcia will begin the contest in the dugout while Nick Allen gets the start at shortstop and bats eighth. • Braves' Orlando Arcia: Starting again Wednesday

Arcia will start at shortstop and bat ninth in Wednesday's game against the Phillies. After a four-game benching, Arcia returned to the lineup Tuesday and reached base twice in four plate appearances in Atlanta's 7-5 win. He'll get another chance to build on that performance by starting again Wednesday as he looks to solidify himself as Atlanta's everyday shortstop ahead of Nick Allen.

  • Braves' Orlando Arcia: Not starting Friday

Arcia is not in Atlanta's starting lineup against San Diego on Friday. Arcia started at shortstop on Opening Day and went 1-for-4 with two strikeouts. He'll begin Friday's contest in the dugout while Nick Allen gets the start at shortstop and bats eighth against Padres right-hander Dylan Cease.

  • Braves' Orlando Arcia: Struggling at plate this spring

Arcia has gone 1-for-15 (.067) over nine Grapefruit league appearances this spring. The shortstop is better known for his glove, but Arcia has slugged 17 homers in each of the last two regular seasons, even if his OPS dropped from .741 in 2023 to .625 last year. The 30-year-old hasn't yet found his timing in camp, but his job wouldn't seem to be in any jeopardy, especially given the limited options behind him in the system. A healthy Nacho Alvarez might have made a push, but the 21-year-old has been dealing with a wrist injury this spring.

  • Braves' Orlando Arcia: Plates three in win

Arcia went 1-for-3 with a double, a walk, three RBI and one run scored in Saturday's 10-1 win over the Dodgers. Arcia knocked in multiple runs for the first time since Aug. 30. The shortstop has had a quiet September so far, going 6-for-41 (.146), though three of his hits this month have gone for extra bases. He's at a .220/.275/.361 slash line with 16 home runs, 45 RBI, 45 runs scored and two stolen bases across 143 contests this season.

Arcia went 2-for-3 with two solo home runs and a walk in Friday's win over the Phillies. Arcia put Atlanta on the board with a solo shot in the third inning before belting another homer in the sixth. He was stuck in a 10-for-60 (.167) slump over a 17-game span since his last multi-hit performance Aug. 11. Arcia is now slashing .228/.281/.373 with 15 home runs and 41 RBI through 130 games this season.

  • Braves' Orlando Arcia: Cracks 11th homer

Arcia went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and an additional RBI in Friday's win against the Marlins. Arcia later added another RBI on a single in the eighth to stretch the Atlanta lead to 5-3. The 29-year-old has been hot since the All-Star break, hitting .356 (16-for-45) with four homers, five runs scored and eight RBI across 14 games. He is currently riding a 13-game hit streak.
