Top Kyle Schwarber News

  • Phillies' Kyle Schwarber: Extends MLB record

Schwarber went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 6-3 loss to the Mets.

He kicked off the afternoon by taking Sean Manaea deep, giving Schwarber his 36th homer of the season and his 15th leadoff homer -- extending the major-league record he set Sept. 10. The veteran slugger is one RBI shy of his second straight 100-RBI campaign, and with seven games left on the Phillies' schedule, he still has an outside shot at his third straight 40-homer season.

  • Phillies' Kyle Schwarber: In starting nine

Schwarber (elbow) will DH and bat leadoff Friday against the Mets.

Schwarber was scratched from Wednesday's lineup due to elbow pain stemming from an awkward dive back to first base on a pickoff Tuesday. All indications are that the injury is minor, and he's feeling well enough to play Friday. The 31-year-old has 35 home runs and a .868 OPS on the year.

  • Phillies' Kyle Schwarber: Scratched from lineup due to elbow

The Phillies scratched Schwarber from the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rays while he continues to experience soreness in his left elbow, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.

Schwarber was removed in the fourth inning of Tuesday's 9-4 win, after he looked to have injured his elbow while diving back into first base on a pickoff attempt the inning prior. Though the Phillies initially penciled Schwarber into the lineup Wednesday, manager Rob Thomson said that the designated hitter is still experiencing soreness in his elbow when he swings. The Phillies have Thursday off, so the club is seemingly hopeful that Schwarber will be ready to serve as the DH in Friday's series opener versus the Mets after two full days of rest.

  • Phillies' Kyle Schwarber: Cleared to start Wednesday

Schwarber (elbow) will bat leadoff as the Phillies' designated hitter in Wednesday's game against the Rays.

Schwarber was pulled from Tuesday's 9-4 win in the fourth inning, after he had previously appeared to have hurt his elbow an inning earlier when he retreated to first base on a pickoff attempt. His inclusion in the lineup a day later likely suggests that his removal was precautionary, so fantasy managers in leagues with daily lineup moves shouldn't have many qualms about keeping the slugger active Wednesday. Schwarber has opened September with a nine-game hitting streak, during which he's slashed a scintillating .417/.463/1.083 with seven home runs, 13 RBI and 12 runs.

  • Phillies' Kyle Schwarber: Exits with elbow discomfort

Schwarber was removed from Tuesday's game against the Rays due to left elbow discomfort, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

Schwarber appeared to injure his elbow while diving back to first base on a pickoff attempt in the third inning, and he was later pinch hit for in the fourth. The severity of his injury remains unknown, and he should be considered day-to-day for the time being.

  • Phillies' Kyle Schwarber: Smacks 34th home run

Schwarber went 1-for-4 with a solo homer in Monday's 2-1 win over the Rays.

Schwarber got the Phillies' first hit of the game Monday when he took Tyler Alexander deep in the sixth inning. Schwarber stayed hot at the dish as he extended his hitting streak to eight games, which ties a season-long streak. He's now hit six home runs over his last seven games with 12 RBI in that span. Schwarber's 34 home runs are the third most in the National League behind Shohei Ohtani and Marcell Ozuna.

  • Phillies' Kyle Schwarber: Leads comeback with three homers

Schwarber went 5-for-6 with a double, three home runs, four runs scored and six RBI in Tuesday's 10-9 win over the Blue Jays.

The 31-year-old slugger became only the second Phillie in history to record a five-hit, three-homer performance, joining Hall of Famer Mike Schmidt in a very exclusive club. Schwarber led off the game with a solo shot off Chris Bassitt and then added another off the veteran righty in the fourth, but it was his three-run blast in the top of the ninth off Chad Green that completed an improbable comeback from an early 6-1 deficit. Schwarber is up to 31 homers, 88 RBI and 92 runs on the season to go with an .843 OPS, his highest mark in the latter category since 2021.

  • Phillies' Kyle Schwarber: Drives in three runs

Schwarber went 2-for-5 with a double, three RBI and two runs scored in Sunday's win over the Royals.

Schwarber's RBI double in the third inning brought in the first run of the game. He came around to score on an Alec Bohm single and later drove in another pair of runs. Schwarber had gone 13 straight games without multiple hits but has now done so in back-to-back games. He's produced an .868 OPS with 12 extra-base hits this month. Schwarber owns an .845 OPS with 45 extra-base knocks and 82 RBI through 119 games this season.
