Player Outlook
Dylan Moore was limited to just 67 games in 2023 in large part due to him missing the first two months of the season due to an oblique injury and scar tissue that developed from an offseason surgery. He once again saw most of his action against southpaws, and his .797 OPS against left-handed pitching easily trumped the .647 mark he posted against righties. He was also considerably better away from T-Mobile Park, as his OPS away from his home ballpark was .831 compared to .614 when playing in Seattle. He also didn't run nearly as much in 2023 with just seven steals on ten attempts, and his sprint speed has declined significantly over time; ranking in the the 58th percentile after being in the 83rd two years ago. The ability to play all over the field will give Moore a roster spot in 2024 for Seattle, but a player who looked like a fantasy sleeper doesn't carry redraft value to begin next year.

  • Mariners' Dylan Moore: Likely bound for reserve role

Moore is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Rays. The versatile Moore should retain a regular spot in the Seattle lineup against left-handed pitching, but his opportunities to play against righties should take a sizable hit with Jorge Polanco (hamstring) making his return from the injured list Monday. Moore had already seen his streak of nine consecutive starts come to an end in Sunday's 6-4 loss to the Marlins, when manager Scott Servais opted to move him to the bench against Miami right-hander Kyle Tyler.

Moore went 2-for-5 with an RBI double, another two-bagger and two runs in a win over the Marlins on Saturday. The Mariners gave Julio Rodriguez the night off, but Moore had no trouble helping make up for the slugger's absence by authoring one of four multi-hit efforts for Seattle. The pair of extra-base hits were right on brand for Moore, who's hit a double or better on 24 of his 42 knocks this season to put him just one XBH away from tying a career-best figure in that category.

The 31-year-old Moore had been slumping coming into Tuesday's contest, going 5-for-51 in his previous 16 games. Overall, he's slashing .210/.323/.409 with 23 RBI, 27 runs scored and 12 stolen bases across 60 games in a utility role this season.

Moore will start at second base and bat ninth in Sunday's game against the Rangers. Moore will pick up his fourth consecutive start in the infield since making his return from the paternity list Thursday. Moore went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in a win over the Rangers on Friday. One night after striking out four times in his return from paternity leave, Moore made contact in all four plate appearances and followed his one hit with his 10th steal of the season. The veteran's swipe locked in his fifth double-digit tally in that category across six big-league seasons, but the knock was only his fifth across 38 plate appearances in June.

Since hitting safely in back-to-back games May 25-26, Moore has been mired in a nightmarish slump, going 4-for-42 with a single extra-base hit (a double) and a 38.8 percent strikeout across his last 13 contests.

  • Mariners' Dylan Moore: Placed on paternity list

Moore was placed on the paternity list ahead of Monday's matchup with the White Sox. Moore was originally set to start at second base and bat ninth in Monday's series opener with the White Sox, but he will now be away from the team for up to three games. In his absence, Ryan Bliss could see some extra work at second base while Leonardo Rivas was recalled from Triple-A Tacoma to replace Moore on the major-league roster.

  • Mariners' Dylan Moore: Paternity leave coming soon

The Mariners are expected to place Moore on the paternity leave list, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports. Moore is in Monday's lineup against the White Sox, so it appears the move won't occur until after the game. Leonardo Rivas and Jhonathan Diaz have joined the Mariners' taxi squad and it sounds one of them will join the active roster as Moore's replacement.

  • Mariners' Dylan Moore: Records ninth steal Tuesday

Moore went 1-for-4 with a stolen base and a run in a win over the Athletics on Tuesday. Moore didn't log one of his trademark extra-base hits, but he still found a way to make an impact by working himself into scoring position after his fourth-inning single with the help of his ninth steal. The 31-year-old remains in a multi-game funk, however, as he's just 3-for-25 over the last seven contests, a span during which he's reached via a trio of singles, one walk and three hit-by-pitches.

  • Mariners' Dylan Moore: Hitting bench Sunday

Moore is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Angels. Moore will take a seat in the series finale after he went 1-for-14 with eight strikeouts while starting each of the past four games at either second base or third base. While he remains in the mix for steady playing at the keystone with Jorge Polanco (hamstring) on the injured list, Moore looks to be slowing down at the plate after a hot run over the first three weeks of May. Dating back to May 23, Moore is slashing .103/.297/.138 over a stretch of nine games. If Moore's struggles continue, Ryan Bliss could end up unseating him as the preferred option at second base.

Moore led things off with a base hit and stole second before eventually coming around to score on a Mitch Garver single to give the Mariners a quick lead. He later drove in a run on a sacrifice fly. It was just his third stolen base since April 24, though he's on pace for double-digit steals again after only managing seven in 67 games last season. Moore continues to see regular at-bats with J.P. Crawford (oblique) still working his way back and even works out of the leadoff spot against lefties like he did Sunday. For the year, the 31-year-old is slashing .222/.321/.411 with three homers, 13 RBI, 12 runs and an 11:28 BB:K in 106 plate appearances.

Moore is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Twins. Moore has taken over as the Mariners' primary option at shortstop since J.P. Crawford (oblique) was placed on the 10-day injured list April 25, but he'll cede his spot in the field to Leonardo Rivas in the series finale in Minnesota. During Crawford's absence, Moore has batted just .184, though five of his seven hits over his last 13 games have gone for extra bases.

  • Mariners' Dylan Moore: Keeps up hard hitting Tuesday

Moore went 2-for-3 with an RBI double, a triple, a walk and two runs in a win over the Twins on Tuesday. Moore's propensity for hard contact was on full display again Tuesday, with the veteran utility man belting his seventh and eighth extra-base hits of the season. Moore has already tied a career high with his pair of three-baggers, and with four doubles, he's just under halfway to his 2023 total of nine in that department. The 31-year-old came into Tuesday with a .143 average and 32.3 percent strikeout rate over the prior 10 games, making his first multi-hit effort since April 24 a particularly welcome sight.
