Reds' Gavin Lux: Settles with new team
The Reds and Lux avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $3.325 million contract Thursday, Gordon Wittenmyer of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Acquired from the Dodgers via trade earlier this week, Lux had been arbitration-eligible for the second time. The 27-year-old slashed .251/.320/.383 with 10 home runs and 50 RBI across 487 plate appearances during the 2024 regular season with the Dodgers and is in line for regular reps against righties with his new team in 2025.

Reds' Gavin Lux: Acquired by Cincinnati
The Dodgers traded Lux to the Reds on Monday in exchange for Mike Sirota and a Competitive Balance Round A pick, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
Lux had garnered trade interest from multiple teams during the offseason including the Yankees and Mariners, per Jon Morosi of MLB Network, and those rumors intensified after the Dodgers signed Hyeseong Kim to a three-year contract this past Friday. Lux could start at second base for the Reds if the club chooses to use Matt McLain in center field or other positions, or Lux himself might bounce around to multiple spots. Lux finished the 2024 regular-season with a slash line of .251/.320/.383 with 10 home runs and 50 RBI across 487 plate appearances.

Dodgers' Gavin Lux: Could be out of starting job
Lux might be out of a starting job next season with the Dodgers planning to move Mookie Betts back to the infield, Noah Camras of DodgersNation.com reports.
The Dodgers have not said whether Betts would play shortstop or second base, but with Miguel Rojas and Tommy Edman available as shortstop options, Betts' likelier destination is probably the keystone. Seemingly, that would push Lux to the bench or perhaps the trade block. Lux had a .562 OPS in the first half of the 2024 season but finished strong in the second half with an .899 OPS. He then struggled in the postseason (.580 OPS) while battling a hip issue. Lux will turn 27 later this month and is under team control through 2026.

Dodgers' Gavin Lux: Moved down to No. 9 spot
Lux will start at second base and bat ninth Wednesday in Game 5 of the World Series versus the Yankees.
It's the lowest spot in the batting order so far this postseason for Lux, who is just 1-for-17 at the plate over his last seven playoff contests. It's possible he's still not feeling totally healthy after suffering a hip flexor injury in Game 1 of the NLCS. Lux is flip-flopping spots in the lineup with Tommy Edman, who will hit seventh Wednesday.

Dodgers' Gavin Lux: Starting at second base
Lux (hip) will start at second base and bat eighth Friday in Game 1 of the World Series against the Yankees, Travis Sawchik of theScore.com reports.
Lux didn't start Game 6 of the NLCS as he dealt with continued soreness in his hip, but with extra rest between series he's ready to give it a go. The 26-year-old Lux is 5-for-24 with one home run during the 2024 postseason.

Dodgers' Gavin Lux: Sitting versus lefty
Lux isn't in the lineup for Game 2 of the World Series against the Yankees on Saturday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
The Yankees will send southpaw Carlos Rodon to the mound to begin Game 2, so the lefty-hitting Lux will grab a seat on the bench while Enrique Hernandez fills in at the keystone and bats sixth.

Dodgers' Gavin Lux: Not in lineup for Game 6
Lux (hip) is absent from the Dodgers' lineup for Game 6 of the NLCS against the Mets on Sunday, Noah Camras of DodgersNation.com reports.
Manager Dave Roberts said Sunday that Lux is sitting not just because of the Mets sending southpaw Sean Manaea to the mound, but also because Lux is still not fully recovered from a hip flexor injury, per Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times. Chris Taylor will start at second base for Game 6 of the NLCS, but Lux will be available off the bench.

Dodgers' Gavin Lux: Not in Thursday's lineup
Lux is absent from the lineup Thursday for Game 4 of the NLCS versus the Mets, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.
It's southpaw Jose Quintana on the bump for the Mets, so the left-handed-hitting Lux will begin the contest on the bench. Chris Taylor is occupying second base and batting ninth for the Dodgers.

Dodgers' Gavin Lux: Back in lineup for Game 3
Lux (hip) will start at second base and bat sixth Wednesday in Game 3 of the NLCS versus the Mets.
Lux had to depart Game 1 and didn't play Game 2 because of hip flexor tightness, but he's feeling well enough to give it a go Wednesday. The 26-year-old is 5-for-19 with one home run in six contests so far this postseason.

Dodgers' Gavin Lux: Expected to start Wednesday
Manager Dave Roberts said he expects Lux (hip) to be back in the lineup Wednesday for Game 3 of the NLCS, Matthew Moreno of DodgerBlue.com reports.
Lux was absent from the lineup in Game 2 after being removed from Game 1 due to hip-flexor tightness. The second baseman is 5-for-19 with a home run and two walks in the 2024 postseason. If he is back in the lineup as expected Wednesday, he will be facing Mets' right-handed starter Luis Severino.

Dodgers' Gavin Lux: Absent from Game 2 lineup
Lux (hip) is not in the lineup Monday for Game 2 of the NLCS against the Mets, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Lux had to be lifted from Game 1 in the seventh inning due to hip flexor tightness. He will be available to pinch hit in Game 2 but will not be used on defense. The hope is that Lux will be ready to return to the lineup for Game 3 on Wednesday after two days of rest. Enrique Hernandez is at second base in Game 2.
