The Marlins placed Meyer on the 15-day injured list Tuesday due to a left hip impingement, Kevin Barral of FishonFirst.com reports.
Meyer surrendered four earned runs in each of his past two starts -- including a matchup versus the Rockies on Monday -- and will be sidelined for at least the next couple weeks due to a hip issue. It's unclear how long the left-hander is expected to be sidelined, though he'll be eligible to be reinstated from the injured list June 18.
Meyer (3-5) took the loss after allowing five runs, four of them earned, on 10 hits and one walk while striking out five through five innings of work during Monday's 6-4 loss to the Rockies.
Meyer discovered a new worst enemy during Monday's start, surrendering two home runs to Rockies catcher Hunter Goodman, as part of a tough outing. The right-hander has struggled to keep the ball in the yard lately as he's surrendered nine home runs over his last seven starts. The 26-year-old has allowed at least five runs in five of those seven appearances. Meyer's next scheduled start is a Sunday matinee road battle at the Rays.
Meyer allowed six runs (four earned) on seven hits and two walks while failing to record a strikeout over 3.1 innings in a no-decision Tuesday versus the Padres.
The Marlins opened the game with a six-run first inning. That's usually enough of a lead to make for smooth sailing, but Meyer proceeded to give it all back, getting scored on in four straight innings before exiting at 74 pitches (44 strikes) in a poor start. He has allowed at least four runs in five of his last six outings, erasing much of his positive start to the season. The right-hander is now at a 4.53 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 63:19 K:BB over 59.2 innings through 11 starts. His next start is projected to be at home versus the hapless Rockies, which gives him a good opportunity to bounce back.
Meyer didn't factor into the decision Wednesday, allowing one run on five hits and a walk over six innings in a 2-1 loss to the Cubs. He struck out four.
A solo shot by Kyle Tucker in the first inning was the only blemish on Meyer's line, but Miami's offense couldn't get much going against Cade Horton and the Chicago bullpen. That left Meyer settling for his fifth quality start of the season, but his first in May as he pulled out of a tailspin that had seen him post a 7.97 ERA over his previous four outings. The 26-year-old right-hander will look to build on this performance in his next start, which is scheduled to come on the road early next week in San Diego.

Meyer could have a hard time getting back on track in his next scheduled start versus the Cubs, who are scoring 5.7 runs per game across their first 45 contests.

Meyer squandered an early lead by allowing a solo home run to Andrew Vaughn and a Michael Taylor RBI double in the second inning, and the right-hander was chased in the seventh after giving up three additional runs to a Chicago lineup that averages just 3.4 runs per game. After starting the season with a 2.10 ERA through his first five starts, Meyer has now given up five earned runs in each of his last three outings, elevating his ERA to 4.37. He'll get another chance to turn things around next week while pitching at home against the Rays.
