After a poor spring, the Twins optioned Trevor Megill to Triple-A St. Paul to begin the season. Further struggles prompted the club to designate the reliever in late April. The Brewers acquired Megill from the Twins and sent him to Triple-A Nashville. Megill spent the rest of the season alternating between the minor and majors. While with the Brewers, Megill posted a 3.63 ERA over 34.2 innings, but a bloated .407 BABIP fueled an inflated 1.36 WHIP. Megill fanned 35.1 percent of batters, and yielded just two homers, so the excess traffic didn't hurt him too much. Megill throws a 99-mph four-seam fastball 72 percent of the time, mixing in the curve. Curiously, Megill's career BABIP is .393. Megill has the stuff to be late-inning reliever, but until he figures out to calm down his high hit rate, he'll likely work in lower leverage scenarios.

  • Brewers' Trevor Megill: Posts 16th save

Megill earned a save against Texas on Monday, striking out two batters in a scoreless ninth inning. Megill hit a batter with two outs in his inning of work, but it didn't cost him any runs. The right-hander was able to notch his 10th straight successful save conversion -- he hasn't blown an opportunity since May 20. Megill has proven to be a more-than-adequate fill-in for rehabbing closer Devin Williams (back), as he's tied for eighth in MLB with 16 saves (in 17 opportunities) while posting a 1.85 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 30:7 K:BB through 24.1 innings.

  • Brewers' Trevor Megill: Secures 15th save

Megill struck out one in a perfect inning to earn the save in Wednesday's 2-0 win over the Angels. Megill needed just seven pitches (six strikes) against the middle of the Angels' order to close out this contest. He's pitched four of the last five days, but he's thrown just 12 pitches over his last two outings. He's now 15-for-16 in save chances with a 2.01 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 27:7 K:BB through 22.1 innings this season. If Megill is unavailable for Thursday's series opener versus the Padres due to his recent workload, a potential save chance would likely go to Joel Payamps or Hoby Milner.

  • Brewers' Trevor Megill: Closes out Angels

Megill retired the only batter he faced to earn the save in Tuesday's 6-3 win over the Angels. The Brewers led 6-0 going into the ninth inning, but both Elieser Hernandez and Joel Payamps struggled. That led to Megill entering the game with runners on first and second, and he got Taylor Ward to fly out to end the Angels' rally. Megill has a save in six straight outings and he's converted his last eight chances. He's now 14-for-15 in save opportunities on the year with a 2.11 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 26:7 K:BB over 21.1 innings, functioning as the Brewers' primary closer while Devin Williams (back) is out.

  • Brewers' Trevor Megill: Secures save Saturday

Megill notched a save against the Reds on Saturday, allowing one run on one hit and one walk in one inning. A trio of Milwaukee pitchers combined to shut out Cincinnati over eight innings before the ball was handed to Megill for the ninth. The right-hander didn't make things easy, issuing a walk and allowing a run-scoring double before getting his first out, but he was ultimately able to slam the door for the save. Megill has been great in his first venture as a closer this season, going 12-for-13 in save tries while posting a 2.25 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 25:6 K:BB over 20 innings. He appears to have a firm grasp on ninth-inning duties for the Brewers, at least until Devin Williams (back) is able to return from the injured list, potentially in the latter half of July.

  • Brewers' Trevor Megill: Records 11th save

Megill earned the save Wednesday in a 5-4 win over the Blue Jays, working around a hit and a walk while striking out one in a scoreless ninth inning. After Toronto logged three straight hits off Hoby Milner to start the ninth, the Brewers turned to Megill to shut the door. He got off to a shaky start, allowing two inherited runs to score after a hit and a walk, though he'd ultimately settle in and close out the 5-3 victory. The 30-year-old Megill has now converted Milwaukee's last three save chances while allowing just one earned run in his last seven appearances. Megill's converted 11 of 12 save opportunities this year while working to a 1.89 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 25:5 K:BB across 19 innings.

  • Brewers' Trevor Megill: Earns 10th save

Megill earned a save against the Blue Jays on Monday, allowing one hit in a scoreless ninth inning. Entering with a 3-1 lead in the ninth inning, Megill allowed a two-out single to Spencer Horwitz but retired Vladimir Guerrero Jr. on the next pitch to secure his 10th save of the season. Megill has posted four straight scoreless appearances and is now 10-for-11 in save chances this season. He owns a 2.00 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 24:4 K:BB and should continue to be the primary closer in Milwaukee until Devin Williams (back) returns from the injured list.

  • Brewers' Trevor Megill: Avoids IL, but could need time off

Megill (elbow) could be unavailable to pitch for a few days, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Megill was struck on the right elbow by a comebacker in Tuesday's loss to the Cubs. While X-rays came back negative and he has avoided the injured list for the time being, Megill might need a little time for the elbow to calm down. Joel Payamps would seem to be the most likely candidate for saves while Megill is unavailable.

  • Brewers' Trevor Megill: Avoids fracture

Manager Pat Murphy said after Tuesday's loss to the Cubs that Megill did not suffer a fracture on the line drive that hit his arm in the 10th inning, Sophia Minnaert of Bally Sports Wisconsin reports. It remains unclear whether or not Megill will need to spend time on the injured list, but the 30-year-old reliever seems to have avoided the worst. The righty has been operating as Milwaukee's primary closer with Devin Williams (back) on the injured list, though the ninth inning may be given to Hoby Milner or Joel Payamps if Megill is forced to miss time.

  • Brewers' Trevor Megill: Exits with injury

Megill was removed from Tuesday's game against the Cubs after getting hit in the right arm by a line drive, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Megill entered Tuesday's game in the 10th inning and threw three pitches to Mike Tauchman before getting taking a 99-mph line drive off his right (throwing) arm. Megill immediately came out of the game and will presumably head into the clubhouse for imaging. The Brewers should have more information on his status following Tuesday's contest.

  • Brewers' Trevor Megill: Notches seventh save

Megill gave up a hit and struck out three in a scoreless ninth inning Tuesday to record his seventh save of the season in a 7-5 win over the Marlins. After blowing his first save of the season the night before, Megill bounced back and fired 11 of 14 pitches for strikes to get the job done, with five of his fastballs clocking in at 99 mph or higher. The right-hander sports a 1.98 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 17:3 K:BB through 13.2 innings this season, and with Devin Williams (back) just now beginning to toss a baseball, Megill figures to handle closing duties with Milwaukee for at least another couple months.

  • Brewers' Trevor Megill: Blows save against Miami

Megill blew the save in Monday's loss to the Marlins. He allowed one run on two hits and no walks over one inning while striking out one. Megill gathered the first two outs of the ninth inning on three pitches before yielding a single to Nick Gordon. Gordon promptly stole second and then was subsequently driven home via an Otto Lopez single to tie the game. This is Megill's first blown save of the season, so he should maintain his role as the Milwaukee closer.

  • Brewers' Trevor Megill: Registers sixth save

Megill earned a save against the Astros on Saturday, allowing one hit and striking out three baters over one inning. Megill gave up a two-out single to Jake Meyers but was otherwise dominant, recording all three of his outs via strikeout. He threw 12 of 16 pitches for strikes and recorded his fifth save over five appearances in March. Megill appears to be locked in as Milwaukee's closer, as no other Brewer has notched a save this month.

  • Brewers' Trevor Megill: Hangs on for fifth save

Megill earned the save Tuesday against the Pirates, allowing a solo home run and no walks with two strikeouts across one inning. Megill entered the contest with two runs of cushion and managed to secure his fifth save of the campaign despite allowing a solo homer to Connor Joe with two outs in the ninth. The 30-year-old is a perfect 5-for-5 in save chances and has only allowed two runs in 10.2 innings this season.

  • Brewers' Trevor Megill: Earns fourth save

Megill allowed two hits in a scoreless inning to earn the save in Saturday's 5-3 win over the Cardinals. He did not strike out or walk a batter. Megill made things a little hairy by allowing two-out singles to Lars Nootbaar and Paul Goldschmidt before getting Nolan Arenado to line out. The save was Megill's fourth of the season, all of which have come in his last five outings. The right-hander owns a 0.93 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 8:3 K:BB while also earning three holds over 9.2 innings this season. Megill has been the committee leader for saves recently, and that should continue at least until Joel Payamps (bereavement) is back with the Brewers.

  • Brewers' Trevor Megill: Perfect again

Megill picked up the save during Tuesday's 6-5 win over the Royals, striking out one batter over a perfect ninth inning. Megill had a save opportunity open up after Willy Adames gave the Brewers a one-run lead in the top of the ninth on a three-run home run, and the reliever converted it for his third save of the season. In each of his three save chances this season, Megill has turned in a perfect inning, and he's allowed just one run and two hits in 6.2 innings since being activated from the injured list April 19.

  • Brewers' Trevor Megill: Nails down second save

Megill earned the save Friday in a 3-1 win over the Cubs, striking out one in a perfect ninth inning. Megill set down the four, five and six batters in the Cubs' order Friday after Joel Payamps faced the top of the lineup in the eighth. Megill and Payamps both figure to see their share of ninth-inning work with Devin Williams (back) likely out until the All-Star break. The 30-year-old Megill lowered his ERA to 1.17 with a 0.91 WHIP and 7:3 K:BB through his first 7.2 innings this season.

  • Brewers' Trevor Megill: Back from concussion IL

Megill was activated from the 7-day concussion injured list by the Brewers on Friday. Megill has been sidelined for most of this month after suffering a concussion as a result of a fall when he fainted. He made two scoreless relief appearances on a rehab assignment and is now ready to rejoin the Brewers' relief corps. He could find himself in the mix for saves in an unsettled bullpen.

  • Brewers' Trevor Megill: Set for rehab assignment Saturday

Megill (concussion) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Nashville on Saturday, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Megill has been sidelined due to a concussion since April 3. He threw a bullpen session earlier in the week without any issues and doesn't project to spend much time on his rehab assignment, making it likely he returns to the Brewers' bullpen within a few days. Megill threw two scoreless innings and struck out three batters during Milwaukee's season-opening series against the Mets.

  • Brewers' Trevor Megill: Sidelined with concussion

Milwaukee placed Megill on the 7-day injured list Wednesday with a concussion. Megill had appeared in both of the Brewers' first two games of the season, serving as the team's seventh-inning man in a pair of wins over the Mets while recording six outs and allowing no runs and striking out three. The Brewers have had high-leverage, late-inning opportunities available in both of their subsequent two games, and while Megill's lack of usage in Sunday's 4-1 win over the Mets appeared to be the result of rest, his absence in Monday's 3-2 win over Minnesota was more surprising. The concussion likely explains why Megill wasn't available, with Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel relaying that the right-hander first fell victim to food poisoning in New York City over the weekend and was still battling symptoms upon his return to Milwaukee earlier this week, when he suffered a fainting episode at a retail store and hit his head on the ground. As a result of landing on the IL, Megill will be out through at least Saturday's game versus the Mariners. The Brewers called up J.B. Bukauskas from Triple-A Nashville to replace Megill in the bullpen.

  • Brewers' Trevor Megill: Back on active roster

The Brewers reinstated Megill (paternity) from the restricted list Saturday. After moving Megill to the restricted list to give him extra time with his expanding family, the Brewers will get their flame-throwing reliever back a day later. After a rough start to the season, Megill has posted a 1.69 ERA and 1.13 WHIP over 16 innings since Aug. 16, though the Brewers' immense bullpen depth has kept Megill from seeing many high-leverage opportunities. Clayton Andrews and Caleb Boushley were optioned to rookie ball in corresponding moves.
