Jacob Gilyard: Handed walking papers
Gilyard was waived by the Cavaliers on Monday, Sam Amico of HoopsWire.com reports.
Gilyard was brought in on an Exhibit 10 deal for training camp and should have a good chance to return to Cleveland's G League affiliate, the Cleveland Charge, for the beginning of the regular season.

Cavaliers' Jacob Gilyard: Joins Cleveland for camp
Gilyard signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the Cavaliers on Tuesday, Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com reports.
The Cavaliers recently acquired Gilyard's G League rights, so it's not surprising that he'll be brought in for training camp as well. He's made 42 career NBA appearances over the past two seasons, most notably drawing 14 starts for the injury-riddled Grizzlies last year.

Gilyard (hip) has been cleared to play Friday against the Knicks.

Gilyard (hip) is available for Wednesday's game versus the Raptors, C.J. Holmes of the New York Daily News reports.

Nets' Jacob Gilyard: Likely to suit up Wednesday
Gilyard is listed as probable for Wednesday's game versus the Raptors due to a left hip contusion, Brian Lewis of the New York Post reports.
The two-way guard will be back with Brooklyn for the final three games of the NBA season after he most recently suited up for the G League's Long Island Nets during their playoff run. Assuming he's available to play Wednesday, Gilyard will provide depth to the backcourt.

Nets' Jacob Gilyard: Joins Nets
Gilyard and the Nets agreed to a two-way contract Friday, Michael Scotto of USA Today reports.
Gilyard made 37 appearances for the Grizzlies this season before the franchise let him go last week. He averaged 4.7 points, 3.5 assists, 1.4 three-pointers and 1.2 rebounds in 17.7 minutes per game for Memphis. Though he'll link up with Brooklyn on a two-way deal, Gilyard is unlikely to see as ample playing time with the Nets as he had with the Grizzlies.

Jacob Gilyard: Cut by Memphis
The Grizzlies waived Gilyard on Saturday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
Gilyard had been one of the Grizzlies' two-way players, but because he's already been active for 48 games this season, he was eligible to appear in just two more contests for Memphis. Rather than keeping Gilyard on the roster with limited availability over the final month and a half, the Grizzlies elected to convert 10-day signee Jordan Goodwin to a two-way deal. The Grizzlies could look to bring Gilyard back on a 10-day deal once he clears waivers, though the team still has a need for another healthy body in the frontcourt with two-way player Trey Jemison facing similar limitations with his availability down the stretch. Gilyard appeared in 37 games (14 starts) for Memphis this season, averaging 4.7 points, 3.5 assists, 1.4 three-pointers, 1.2 rebounds and 0.7 steals in 17.7 minutes per contest.

Grizzlies' Jacob Gilyard: Solid production in loss
Gilyard recorded 13 points (5-10 FG, 3-7 3Pt), two rebounds, six assists and two steals across 36 minutes during Sunday's 131-91 loss to Boston.
Gilyard drew his second straight start for the injury-depleted Grizzlies and delivered another strong performance. Over the last two games, Gilyard has totaled 29 points (10-19 FG), 11 assists, four rebounds, four steals and one block while averaging 34.0 minutes per game. If he's able to maintain this type of role, Gilyard should be on fantasy radars, especially in deeper leagues.

Grizzlies' Jacob Gilyard: Struggles despite opportunity
Gilyard ended Monday's 103-94 loss to the Kings with three points (1-3 FG, 1-2 3Pt), two rebounds, five assists and one steal over 16 minutes.
Despite the fact the Grizzlies were without several key pieces, Gilyard still struggled to have any sort of tangible impact. He has scored double-digits only three times all season, with his only upside being in the assists department. Other than being a speculative stream option, managers are likely to find a more reliable option on most waiver wires.
