Ravens defensive tackle Ryan McBean expects to miss the 2012 season after sustaining a fractured dislocated ankle last Thursday in Atlanta.
"I will be back, even probably around OTAs time, back to 100 percent," McBean told radio station WNST 1570 AM. "That's my mark and that's what I'll be going for."
McBean hasn't been placed on injured reserve yet. Dr. Robert Anderson, who also operated on Terrell Suggs' partially torn Achilles tendon, performed surgery on McBean.
When McBean went down against Atlanta, the injury looked serious from the start. He told the radio station he felt sorry for himself for 30 seconds and then decided to move on.
"When my foot was facing the direction it wasn't supposed to be facing, I figured, yeah, OK. Something is wrong," McBean said.
With McBean presumably out for the season, defensive tackle Bryan Hall will likely move up the depth chart to back up Haloti Ngata. McBean said Hall's performed well in practice and doesn't lack the confidence to succeed.
“Bryan brags about his 17 sacks he got at Arkansas State every chance he gets in the D-line room,” McBean said. “He’s a guy that comes out to practice and goes hard every single day – not just on the D-line, but on special teams."
