Vikings rookie left tackle Matt Kalil, who was taken fourth overall, has signed a four-year deal on the eve of the first training camp practice, according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press.
No information on the contract was available, but the newspaper reported part of the deal was guaranteed and the Vikings hold a fifth-year option on the former Southern Cal standout.
Kalil's signing means the Vikings should have all 90 players when camp begins Friday at Minnesota State University in Mankato. It also means Charlie Johnson, who played left tackle last year, will likely shift to left guard.
Kalil is expected to face DE Jared Allen -- one of the league's premier pass rushers -- as soon as drills begin.
“It should be real good for Matt to go against maybe the best DE in the league,” coach Leslie Frazier told Fox 9 News.
