  • NaVorro Bowman: Officially retires

Bowman officially announced his retirement Monday.

Bowman returned to San Francisco headquarters to let his retirement plans known. He spent nearly eight seasons there before being waived and finishing the 2017 campaign with the Raiders. The 31-year-old was named an All-Pro four times and helped lead a stellar 49ers defense to three straight NFC Championship Games. A scary knee injury in the 2013 playoffs cost him the entire 2014 season. He will end his career with 877 tackles, 16.5 sacks, five interceptions, nine forced fumbles, six fumble recoveries and one touchdown.

  • NaVorro Bowman: Working with Cleveland

Bowman scheduled a workout Tuesday with the Browns, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

After splitting time between the 49ers and Raiders in 2017 and accruing 70 stops and 1.5 sacks across 15 games, Bowman hit free agency in March but hasn't drawn many nibbles, despite being one of the more accomplished linebackers on the open market. Bowman's contract expectations and troubling injury history -- he missed the entire 2014 campaign with a torn ACL and MCL in his left knee and was limited to four appearances in 2016 after tearing an Achilles' tendon -- have probably contributed to his limited suitors, but the fact that he's working out for a team suggests he could soon find a landing spot. The Browns could benefit from another experienced body in their linebacker ranks with Joe Schobert (hamstring) and James Burgess (hamstring) both likely to sit out Week 7 against the Buccaneers.

  • NaVorro Bowman: Raiders would welcome return

According to general manager Reggie McKenzie, Bowman would be welcomed back to the Raiders and contract negotiations are still ongoing, Michael Gehlken of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.

Bowman found resurgence in Oakland after being released by the 49ers five weeks into the season in 2017. Despite only playing in 10 games for the silver and black, Bowman tied for the team lead in tackles with 89 (58 solo), to go along with 1.5 sacks and an interception. While contract talks continue between the two sides, it's important to remember the Raiders inked fellow middle linebacker Tahir Whitehead, who is coming off back-to-back 100-plus tackle seasons in Detroit, to a three-year deal earlier in the month.

  • Raiders' NaVorro Bowman: Notches 89 tackles with Oakland in 2017

Bowman racked up 127 tackles (80 solo), 1.5 sacks, one interception and one fumble recovery in 15 games this season.

Bowman, who was brought in by the Raiders mid-season, actually tied for the team lead in tackles with 89 despite playing just 10 games in the silver and black. The 29-year-old now has five career 120-plus tackle seasons under his belt, including four with the 49ers. He's slated to become an unrestricted free agent in 2018, but the starting middle linebacker may look to re-sign with Oakland after experiencing such productivity with the team.

  • Raiders' NaVorro Bowman: Leads team in tackles vs. Eagles

Bowman logged seven tackles (six solo) in Monday's loss to the Eagles.

Bowman continues to serve as the Raiders' leading tackler on a weekly basis since coming over to Oakland, totaling 76 stops in nine games with the team. The starting middle linebacker should again make for an attractive IDP option Week 17 against the Chargers.

  • Raiders' NaVorro Bowman: Nine tackles against Cowboys

Bowman racked up nine tackles (six solo) -- including one tackle for loss -- during Sunday's 20-17 loss to the Cowboys.

Bowman once again led the Raiders' defense in tackling, bringing his total to 69 tackles (44 solo) in eight games with Oakland this season. He should remain busy in Week 16 on Monday night against an Eagles offense that has averaged 38.5 points over its past two games, albeit one without Carson Wentz running the show and perhaps not even Nick Foles.
