Saints' Derek Carr: Solid numbers in return
Carr completed 18 of 31 passes for 236 yards with a touchdown and no interceptions in the Saints' 23-22 loss to the Panthers on Sunday.
Carr was making his return from a three-game absence due to an oblique injury and put together a reasonably efficient performance despite losing Chris Olave to a concussion in the first quarter. The veteran signal-caller adjusted well and leaned heavily on Alvin Kamara and Taysom Hill, who accounted for one-third of Carr's completions and 101 of his passing yards. However, Carr's one touchdown pass went to Foster Moreau, who made an acrobatic 17-yard catch in the back of the end zone early in the fourth quarter. Carr threw two incomplete passes and took a sack on the Saints' final drive, but despite the disappointing conclusion Sunday, he'll head into a Week 10 home matchup against the Falcons with some momentum stemming from a solid return to action.

Saints' Derek Carr: Cleared for Week 9
Carr (oblique) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game at Carolina, Matthew Paras of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
Carr never quite progressed to full practice participation but nonetheless has been cleared to return from a three-game absence. He'll take over a somewhat depleted offense, with WR Rashid Shaheed (knee) out for the season, WR Bub Means (ankle) out for Week 9 and Cedrick Wilson (hip) listed as questionable, not to mention the Saints' continued O-line issues.

Saints' Derek Carr: Remains limited in practice
Carr (oblique) was a limited practice participant Thursday, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.
Since straining his left oblique Week 5 at Kansas City, Carr has missed three consecutive games and didn't practice until this Wednesday, but he's now cobbled together back-to-back capped sessions. There's an expectation that Carr will return to action Sunday in Carolina, but it remains to be seen how he'll be listed on Friday's injury report, and who else may be available to the offense. Among skill players on the active roster, RB Alvin Kamara remains limited by hand and rib fractures and WRs Bub Means (ankle) and Cedrick Wilson (hip) also are banged-up, but Carr at least will have top WR Chris Olave and TE Juwan Johnson (shoulder) at his services.

Saints' Derek Carr: Limited in return to practice
Carr (oblique) was a limited participant at Wednesday's practice but is still expected to start this Sunday at Carolina, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.
Head coach Dennis Allen reiterated Wednesday that Carr is likely to return from a three-game absence, after making similar comments Monday. The Saints have lost six straight games while contending with numerous injuries, including three consecutive losses by margins of 18 or more points while Carr was out with the oblique injury. Top wideout Chris Olave is now healthy, but the Saints don't have much else at receiver, with Rashid Shaheed (knee) out for the season and both Bub Means (ankle) and Cedrick Wilson (hip) missing Wednesday's practice and in danger of sitting out Week 9.
