Player Outlook
The Broncos DST checks all the boxes you look for in a steady Fantasy option. They have a very good pass rush, they're great against the run, they have a strong secondary and they have a track record you can buy into (they were the No. 1 DST in total points and points per game in 2024). You'll also love their early-season schedule against the Titans, Colts, and Chargers. It adds up to the Broncos DST being worthy of a third-to-last-round pick in drafts.

  • Broncos' P.J. Locke: Recovering from surgery

Locke underwent spinal fusion surgery during the offseason and is still recovering, he recently disclosed on his YouTube channel. Locke played through the back injury during the 2024 season and managed to play 982 total snaps over 15 regular-season games despite dealing with considerable pain. His ability to return to the field was in question, but Locke said that his pain levels are minimal and he hopes to be cleared for training camp.

  • Broncos' Alex Singleton: Returns Thursday

Singleton (knee) participated in Thursday's practice, Parker Gabriel of The Denver Post reports. Singleton was expected to be ready for the regular season, so it's no surprise he's returned to the field for OTAs after tearing his ACL during the Broncos' Week 3 win in 2024. The Montana State product was one of the NFL's top tackles prior to his injury, recording 177 total tackles, including 2.0 sacks, and four passes defended across 17 regular-season games in 2023. Now that he's returned, Singleton is likely to remain one of the team's top defensive playmakers in 2025.

  • Broncos' Dre Greenlaw: Out for OTAs

Greenlaw (quadriceps) isn't participating in Denver's OTAs, Luca Evans of The Denver Post reports. Greenlaw signed with the Broncos in March but suffered a quadriceps strain a month later that will force him to miss the entirety of the team's OTAs. He is, however, on track to be healthy for training camp and will serve as one of the team's starting linebackers come the start of the regular season.

  • Lions' Zach Cunningham: Going to Motor City

Detroit signed Cunningham on Tuesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Cunningham has appeared in the regular season for four different NFL teams, and most recently, he suited up for seven games with Denver in 2024. For the first time in his career though, he was used more frequently on special teams than on defense. He'll probably only play a depth role for the Lions in 2025.

  • Broncos' Dre Greenlaw: On track for training camp

Broncos head coach Sean Payton said Saturday that Greenlaw (quadriceps) is "on schedule" and "will be a full participant in training camp," Nick Kosmider of The Athletic reports. Greenlaw suffered a torn quadriceps while training in April, and while it sounds like the injury could limit the veteran linebacker during OTAs and/or mandatory minicamp, he remains fully on track for training camp. After signing a three-year, $35 million contract with Denver this offseason, Greenlaw is on track to handle a starting role at inside linebacker for the Broncos.

  • Broncos' Alex Singleton: Should be ready for regular season

Singleton (knee) is expected to be healthy for the start of the regular season, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports. Singleton tore his ACL during the team's Week 3 win over the Buccaneers last season but is close to being ready to make his return. If healthy for the the start of the regular season, the 31-year-old will likely serve as one of Denver's starting linebackers.

  • Broncos' Dre Greenlaw: Suffers quadriceps injury

Greenlaw recently suffered a quadriceps strain while training, which is expected to sideline him multiple weeks, Parker Gabriel of The Denver Post reports. Greenlaw signed with the Broncos in the offseason after spending the first six seasons of his career with the 49ers. The linebacker made his return to the field Week 15 of the 2024 campaign after suffering a torn Achilles during Super Bowl LVIII versus the Chiefs in February 2024. It's unclear if the quadriceps injury will cause him to miss Denver's OTAs beginning May 27.

  • Broncos' Que Robinson: Packs bags for Mile High City

The Broncos selected Robinson (elbow) in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, 134th overall. Robinson didn't start at Alabama until his fifth season, which was cut short after just nine games (five starts) due to an elbow injury. However, he flashed explosiveness with 23 tackles, 7.0 tackles for loss and 4.0 sacks through nine games. While he didn't go through athletic testing at the 2025 NFL Combine or his pro day due to his elbow injury, the Broncos saw enough athleticism on tape to feel comfortable bringing him on board. His modest production and lack of experience in college mean he'll likely struggle to find a secure a spot on defense as a rookie, but the Broncos have enough pass-rushing firepower to take their time with Robinson's development.

  • Broncos' Jahdae Barron: Joins Denver's secondary

The Broncos selected Barron in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft, 20th overall. Denver's secondary gets even stronger with the addition of Barron out of Texas. Though a bit undersized to stick on the boundary at 5-foot-11 and 194 pounds, Barron has great coverage instincts and punches above his weight as a tackler. He broke up 16 passes and picked off five in 2024 en route to winning the Jim Thorpe Award, given to the best defensive back in the country. Slot corner looks to be his best fit in Denver's secondary, where he can be a plug-and-play fixture right away.

Denver will sign Strnad to a one-year, $2.7 million contract, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports. Strnad played the best football of his career in 2024, racking up 73 tackles (48 solo) and 3.0 sacks over 17 games. He got extended run as a starter for the first time as a pro after Alex Singleton suffered a torn ACL in Week 3, but the free-agent signing of Dre Greenlaw to a large contract suggests Strnad will move back into a rotational role to start 2025.

Surtain appeared in 16 regular-season games in 2024, recording 45 total tackles (34 solo), 11 passes defensed, including four interceptions, one of which he returned for a 100-yard pick-six in Week 5 versus the Raiders.
