Panthers' A'Shawn Robinson: Impresses in debut
Robinson recorded nine total tackles (five solo) during Sunday's 47-10 loss to the Saints.
Robinson inked a three-year, $22.5 million contract with the Panthers this past offseason, and his debut did not disappoint. The 29-year-old defensive end's nine total tackles trailed just Shaq Thompson for Carolina, suggesting Robinson could be crucial to this Panthers' defense, especially with Derrick Brown (knee) going down in Week 1. Expect Robinson to continue to be one of Carolina's top tacklers as the team takes on the Chargers in Week 2.

Panthers' A'Shawn Robinson: Signing with Carolina
The Panthers and Robinson have agreed to terms on a three-year, $22.5 million contract, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
Turning 29 later this month, Robinson is coming off a one-year stint with the Giants in which he appeared in all 17 games, finishing with 62 tackles (34 solo) and two pass deflections while playing 46 percent of the team's defensive snaps. In Carolina, Robinson reunites with DC Ejiro Evero after both were with the Rams when they won the Super Bowl in 2021. Robinson will team up with Derrick Brown on the Panthers' defensive line.

Giants' A'Shawn Robinson: Tallies 62 tackles in 2023
Robinson finished the campaign with 62 tackles (34 solo) and two defensed passes over 17 games.
Robinson's 62 stops marked the second-highest single-season total of his career, and he didn't miss a game for the second time in the past three seasons. His playing time picked up after New York traded Leonard Williams to Seattle at the end of October, and Robinson registered eight tackles -- a season-high mark -- in each of the Giants' two games following their Week 13 bye. The contract he signed to come to New York last April was a one-year deal; he probably won't carry a hefty price tag in free agency, though the Giants could decide to move on in favor of younger talent.

Robinson has been dealing with a back injury over the last couple weeks, but it now seems as if he's been able to move past the issue. The 28-year-old defensive end has appeared in all 15 of New York's games thus far, logging 55 total tackles, including five tackles for loss, while also deflecting two passes.

Robinson was able to play through his back issue Christmas Day, but it still seems as if this injury is bothering him, as he's opened the Giants' week of practice with an estimated DNP on Wednesday followed by a limited session Thursday. The 28-year-old defensive tackle will almost certainly carry an injury designation into New York's Week 17 affair unless he's able to practice in full Friday.
