  • Giants' Devin Singletary: Sitting out another practice

Giants head coach Brian Daboll said that Singletary (groin) won't practice Thursday, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.

Singletary has now opened Week 5 prep with consecutive absences from practice, though the running back told Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com prior to Thursday's session that he believes he has a chance to play Sunday in Seattle. In order to make that a reality, however, Singletary will likely need to take the field in some fashion Friday for the Giants' final Week 5 practice. If Singletary is a limited participant in that session, he would still likely carry a questionable designation into Sunday.

  • Giants' Devin Singletary: Misses practice with groin injury

Giants head coach Brian Daboll said that Singletary will not practice Wednesday due to a groin injury, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.

The groin injury is a new concern for Singletary, though Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News relays that the running back ran on Monday, and the issue isn't considered a long-term concern. Still, Singletary now has just two more chances to get back on the practice field ahead of Sunday's road matchup in Seattle. Tyrone Tracy and Eric Gray would likely lead the New York backfield if Singletary sits out this weekend.

  • Giants' Devin Singletary: Stymied by Cowboys in loss

Singletary rushed 14 times for 24 yards and brought in his only target for 14 yards in the Giants' 20-15 loss to the Cowboys on Thursday night.

Singletary's 1.7 yards-per-carry average underscores the brick wall he ran into the majority of the night. The veteran back's yardage total was his lowest of the season by far, and it came on the heels of a two-game stretch where he accumulated 160 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 32 carries alongside a 5-43-0 receiving line. Singletary's first opportunity to bounce back from the season-worst performance comes in a Week 5 road matchup against the Seahawks on Sunday, Oct. 6.

  • Giants' Devin Singletary: Rushing TD in back-to-back games

Singletary rushed 16 times for 65 yards and a touchdown, caught all four of his targets for 43 yards and lost a fumble in Sunday's 21-15 win over the Browns.

Singletary scored a first-quarter rushing touchdown for a second consecutive week, this time getting across the goal line from one yard out. He finished the first half with only three rushing yards on six carries, though, and Singletary lost his second fumble in as many games on his first carry after halftime. After being bottled up on the ground for most of the game, Singletary broke through for a 43-yard burst on the final play before the two-minute warning but unselfishly slid down at the 1-yard line, which allowed the Giants to kneel out the clock and clinch their first win of 2024. Singletary also finished third on the team in targets, catches and receiving yards behind wide receivers Malik Nabers and Wan'Dale Robinson, so the running back's contributing in all facets on offense heading into Thursday's home game against the Cowboys.

  • Giants' Devin Singletary: Nearly reaches century mark in loss

Singletary carried the ball 16 times for 95 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 21-18 loss to the Commanders. He also caught his only target for zero yards.

The veteran running back scored his first TD as a Giant late in the first quarter on a seven-yard run. Singletary has dominated the backfield touches for New York through the first two weeks of the year -- Tyrone Tracy was the only other RB to see the ball, taking one carry for two yards -- and while the team's offense as a whole hasn't been particularly effective so far, that volume does give him a solid fantasy floor. Singletary will look to put together another strong effort in Week 3 against the Browns.

  • Giants' Devin Singletary: Gets 14 touches in Week 1 loss

Singletary rushed 10 times for 37 yards and caught four of five targets for 15 yards in Sunday's 28-6 loss to the Vikings.

Singletary worked as the lead back in his Giants debut, getting 14 touches while Eric Gray and Tyrone Tracy combined for just six. He's a noticeable downgrade in the backfield from Saquon Barkley, who accounted for 10 of New York's 25 offensive touchdowns last season and scored three in his Eagles debut Friday. Singletary's a near-lock for double-digit touches on a weekly basis, but getting into scoring range looks like it will be a slog for the Giants, who will face the Commanders in Week 2 after failing to get into the end zone in the season opener.
