Cardinals' Jeremiyah Love: Out at least a week
Head coach Mike LaFleur told reporters Saturday that Love will be sidelined for at least a week by an ankle injury that he sustained during the Cardinals' 27-14 preseason win over the Raiders on Thursday, Bo Brack of GoPHNX.com reports.
LaFleur noted during Saturday's press conference that Love was "a little more sore than anticipated" following Thursday's exhibition game. With Love not practicing this week, he's unlikely to be available for Arizona's next preseason game, which takes place Saturday, Aug. 22 against Dallas. Prior to his injury, the No. 3 overall pick of this year's draft put together a solid stat line against Las Vegas, turning 11 carries into 58 yards while hauling in all three targets for 14 yards. With both Love and James Conner (foot) sidelined, Tyler Allgeier figures to see most of the first-team reps during practice this week, with Trey Benson, Bam Knight, Corey Kiner and Evan Hull all in line for additional reps.

Cardinals' Jeremiyah Love: Has ankle injury
Coach Mike LaFleur said Love suffered an ankle injury during Thursday's 27-14 preseason win at Las Vegas, but he doesn't believe it's serious, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
Love played the entire first half in his first appearance as a pro, and the third overall pick in this year's draft didn't disappoint, turning 11 carries into 58 yards and reeling in all three targets for 14 yards. LaFleur added afterward that Love could have returned if he was needed, and the coach also is optimistic that the rookie running back will be able to practice next week. Love's next chance for exhibition action is Saturday, Aug. 22 versus the Cowboys.

Cardinals' Jeremiyah Love: Efficient with 14 touches
Love rushed 11 times for 58 yards and brought in all three targets for 14 yards in the Cardinals' 27-14 preseason win over the Raiders on Thursday.
The rookie first-round pick was the first Cardinals running back to garner a touch in the contest, logging two rush attempts and a reception on the opening possession. Love had eight- and nine-yard runs on Arizona's second drive and back-to-back 14- and 16-yard scampers the third time the Cardinals had the ball. It was a highly efficient showing overall for Love in his first taste of NFL game action, and he clearly became more comfortable the longer he remained in the game. The third overall pick should have additional opportunity to tune up for his first season in the Cardinals' second preseason game on Saturday, Aug. 22 at home against the Cowboys.

Cardinals' Jeremiyah Love: In line to play Thursday
Love is slated to suit up for Thursday's preseason game in Las Vegas, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
While rookie third-round pick Carson Beck played QB for over half of last Thursday's Hall of Fame Game against the Panthers, Love was kept on the sideline with the rest of the Cardinals' starters. Considering Love was the third overall pick in this year's draft, his higher standing comes as no surprise, but coach Mike LaFleur relayed Tuesday that the first-team offense will play one or two drives Thursday.

Cardinals' Jeremiyah Love: Won't play in preseason opener
Love won't play in the Hall of Fame Game on Thursday against Carolina, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
Per usual, both teams are holding out most of their starters and many key backups for the first game of the NFL preseason. We should see Love later this preseason, at least briefly, but that won't offer much hint about what his Week 1 role looks like. Love and Tyler Allgeier reportedly have been sharing first-team snaps, while James Conner (foot) remains absent from team drills.

Cardinals' Jeremiyah Love: Mixing in behind Allgeier
Tyler Allgeier is getting most of the first-team backfield reps at the start of training camp, with Love also mixing in for some snaps with the starters, Darren Urban of azcardinals.com reports.
James Conner, meanwhile, isn't yet participating in 11-on-11s after making his way back from season-ending foot surgery last year. It's no huge surprise to see Allgeier taking most of the first-team reps during the opening days of training camp, as teams often defer to seniority even when they have an elite prospect like Love who projects for a major role come September. This simply serves as a reminder that Love has competition for carries -- especially power work between the tackles.
