Commanders' Tre Walker: Unretires from NFL
Walker had a change of heart and will return to the Commanders after announcing his decision to retire Friday, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
Friday, Walker told the team that he would retire and step away from football. Commanders' Tre Walker: Steps away from football
Walker retired Friday morning, Ben Standig of The Athletic reports.
The news comes just one day after the Commanders announced linebacker Drew White's diagnosis of a torn ACL, leaving Washington alarmingly thin at the position. Walker, a 22-year-old rookie undrafted free agent, unexpectedly opted to retire after a productive collegiate career at Idaho. The Commanders will move forward with just seven remaining linebackers listed on the current roster.
