Sharks' Shakir Mukhamadullin: On injured non-roster
Rotowire
Mukhamadullin (lower body) was placed on the injured non-roster list Monday, Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now reports.
Mukhamadullin has been dealing with a lower-body injury since before the start of training camp, and he didn't return to full health during preseason action. It's not yet clear when he'll be ready to return, but the 22-year-old could head to the minors once he's deemed healthy.

Sharks' Shakir Mukhamadullin: Not available for start of camp
Rotowire
Mukhamadullin (lower body) will not be available for the beginning of training camp Thursday.
Mukhamadullin did not play in rookie games last week, but he was expected to be ready for the start of training camp, so he may have had a setback. Mukhamadullin will compete for a job on the bottom pairing. If he is not able to garner a spot, returning to AHL San Jose is likely, as he needs playing time.

Sharks' Shakir Mukhamadullin: Sent to AHL
Rotowire
Mukhamadullin was reassigned to AHL San Jose on Thursday, Curtis Pashelka of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
The Sharks don't play again until Feb. 14, so it's no surprise that Mukhamadullin was sent down. The plan is for him to play in the AHL All-Star game Feb. 5 and get in four AHL games before presumably being recalled by the Sharks. Mukhamadullin picked up his first career NHL point Wednesday, as he had a power-play assist on Anthony Duclair's first-period goal against Anaheim. Mukhamadullin is already a top-four defenseman with the Sharks and should eventually play on the top unit while seeing time with the top power play.

Sharks' Shakir Mukhamadullin: Ascends to top level
Rotowire
Mukhamadullin was recalled from AHL San Jose on Thursday.
Mukhamadullin was the big piece the Sharks wanted from New Jersey when they sent Timo Meier to the Devils 11 months ago. The 22-year old was selected 20th overall in 2020. Mukhamadullin had five goals and 26 points in 39 AHL games before his recall. He could replace Kyle Burroughs on the Sharks' blue line when they face Buffalo on Saturday.
Mukhamadullin signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Devils on Wednesday. He's also been loaned back to Salavat Yulaev Ufa of the KHL for the remainder of the 2021-22 campaign.
Mukhamadullin has already been playing for Salavat Yulaev Ufa this season, picking up three goals and seven points through 34 contests. At this point it isn't clear if the 2020 first-round pick will make the transition to North American hockey in 2022-23.

Rotowire
Mukhamadullin has amassed four points in 14 games with Salavat Yulaev Ufa of the KHL this season.
Mukhamadullin underwent shoulder surgery in May, but he's fully recovered from that operation. The 19-year-old has yet to make much of a scoring impact in his native Russia. A first-round pick of the Devils in 2020, Mukhamadullin doesn't seem likely to make the jump to North America until 2022 at the earliest.
