  • Sharks' Shakir Mukhamadullin: Undergoes shoulder surgery

Mukhamadullin underwent shoulder surgery last week, Max Miller of NHL.com reports Thursday. Mukhamadullin is expected to be fully healthy ahead of training camp in September. The defenseman had two goals and nine assists across 30 appearances this season. He should take on a bigger role with the Sharks next season, as the 23-year-old was selected 20th overall by the Devils in 2020.

  • Sharks' Shakir Mukhamadullin: Ruled out for season

Mukhamadullin (upper body) has been ruled out for the remainder of the season, Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now reports Monday. Mukhamadullin sustained an upper-body injury against the Ducks on Tuesday, and he won't be able to return to game action to close out the season. He's also been ruled out for the AHL playoffs, so he'll shift his focus toward recovering ahead of the 2025-26 campaign. Mukhamadullin made 30 appearances for the Sharks this year, recording two goals, seven assists, 51 blocked shots and 25 hits while averaging 18:04 of ice time.

  • Sharks' Shakir Mukhamadullin: Slated to be re-evaluated Monday

Head coach Ryan Warsofsky said Friday that Mukhamadullin (upper body) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against the Kraken and is doubtful for Monday's matchup against the Flames, Max Miller of NHL.com reports. Mukhamadullin suffered an upper-body injury Tuesday against Anaheim and appears to be on track to miss at least three games. He's slated to be re-evaluated after the weekend, so the Sharks will likely have a better idea of his status Monday.

  • Sharks' Shakir Mukhamadullin: Questionable to finish game

Mukhamadullin sustained an apparent upper-body injury and is questionable to return to Tuesday's game versus the Ducks, Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now reports. Mukhamadullin was injured early in the third period and appeared to be favoring his shoulder, per Curtis Pashelka of The San Jose Mercury News. The defenseman scored a goal prior to his injury, giving him nine points in 30 NHL appearances this season. He's also slotted in as a top-four option down the stretch for a Sharks team already hampered by multiple injuries to blueliners. It's unclear if he'll be available to play Thursday against the Oilers.

  • Sharks' Shakir Mukhamadullin: Bags assist in loss

Mukhamadullin notched a power-play assist in Saturday's 4-2 loss to the Islanders. With six helpers over his last eight games, Mukhamadullin has quickly emerged as a contributor on offense at the NHL level. The 23-year-old blueliner has a total of seven points, 17 shots on net, 27 blocked shots, 18 hits and a plus-3 rating through 21 appearances this season. He was viewed as a bit of a development project when drafted 20th overall in 2020, but Mukhamadullin has a great opportunity to make his mark with the Sharks integrating a large number of prospects toward the tail end of this season.

  • Sharks' Shakir Mukhamadullin: Heads to minors

Mukhamadullin was reassigned to AHL San Jose on Friday, per Curtis Pashelka of The San Jose Mercury News. This move keeps Mukhamadullin eligible to play in the AHL for the rest of the season. It wouldn't be surprising to see the 23-year-old recalled to the NHL before Saturday's game against the Islanders. Mukhamadullin has a goal, six points, 17 hits and 26 blocks in 20 appearances with the Sharks in 2024-25.

  • Sharks' Shakir Mukhamadullin: Five assists in last seven games

Mukhamadullin had two assists Tuesday in a 6-2 win over the Sabres. Mukhamadullin has three assists in his last two games and five in seven contests since the 4 Nations Face-Off. It's a solid stretch for the young defender, who had just one goal in his first 12 games this season. Mukhamadullin also has 10 blocks and nine hits in those seven games. He is a terrific skater who gets himself out of trouble with the puck, and he isn't afraid to use his big frame to rub guys out or lay them out. However, Mukhamadullin's fantasy value in the future remains to be seen.

  • Sharks' Shakir Mukhamadullin: Draws assist Monday

Mukhamadullin notched an assist, two hits and three blocked shots in Monday's 3-2 shootout win over the Maple Leafs. Mukhamadullin is settling in well at the NHL level with three helpers over five games since the 4 Nations Face-Off break. The 23-year-old blueliner saw 21:28 of ice time Monday -- while the game went past regulation time, this was still a season high for the rookie. He's up to four points, 15 shots on net, 15 hits, 25 blocked shots and a plus-2 rating through 18 appearances. It's tough to trust most Sharks defensemen in fantasy, but Mukhamadullin is showing a bit of multi-category potential early in his career.

  • Sharks' Shakir Mukhamadullin: Assigned to AHL

Mukhamadullin was assigned to AHL San Jose on Monday. Mukhamadullin spent the past month with the Sharks and saw consistent playing time in December, but he was a healthy scratch in three of the team's first five games in January. The 23-year-old should have more opportunities to develop in the AHL but could rejoin the Sharks at some point if they need additional help on the blue line.

  • Sharks' Shakir Mukhamadullin: Sent down Tuesday

Mukhamadullin was assigned to AHL San Jose on Tuesday. Mukhamadullin has moved past his lower-body injury, but he's not ready to be a regular with the Sharks just yet. The left-shot blueliner will need to continue developing his game with the Barracuda, but he could be one of the big club's first recalls. The 22-year-old banked 34 points across 55 regular-season games in the minors last season, and he picked up an assist over his first three appearances in the NHL.

  • Sharks' Shakir Mukhamadullin: Sent to AHL

Mukhamadullin was reassigned to AHL San Jose on Thursday, Curtis Pashelka of The San Jose Mercury News reports. The Sharks don't play again until Feb. 14, so it's no surprise that Mukhamadullin was sent down. The plan is for him to play in the AHL All-Star game Feb. 5 and get in four AHL games before presumably being recalled by the Sharks. Mukhamadullin picked up his first career NHL point Wednesday, as he had a power-play assist on Anthony Duclair's first-period goal against Anaheim. Mukhamadullin is already a top-four defenseman with the Sharks and should eventually play on the top unit while seeing time with the top power play.

  • Sharks' Shakir Mukhamadullin: Ascends to top level

Mukhamadullin was recalled from AHL San Jose on Thursday. Mukhamadullin was the big piece the Sharks wanted from New Jersey when they sent Timo Meier to the Devils 11 months ago. The 22-year old was selected 20th overall in 2020. Mukhamadullin had five goals and 26 points in 39 AHL games before his recall. He could replace Kyle Burroughs on the Sharks' blue line when they face Buffalo on Saturday.

  • Devils' Shakir Mukhamadullin: Lands entry-level deal

Mukhamadullin signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Devils on Wednesday. He's also been loaned back to Salavat Yulaev Ufa of the KHL for the remainder of the 2021-22 campaign. Mukhamadullin has already been playing for Salavat Yulaev Ufa this season, picking up three goals and seven points through 34 contests. At this point it isn't clear if the 2020 first-round pick will make the transition to North American hockey in 2022-23.

  • Devils' Shakir Mukhamadullin: Healthy and playing in KHL

Mukhamadullin has amassed four points in 14 games with Salavat Yulaev Ufa of the KHL this season. Mukhamadullin underwent shoulder surgery in May, but he's fully recovered from that operation. The 19-year-old has yet to make much of a scoring impact in his native Russia. A first-round pick of the Devils in 2020, Mukhamadullin doesn't seem likely to make the jump to North America until 2022 at the earliest.

  • Devils' Shakir Mukhamadullin: Undergoes shoulder surgery

Mukhamadullin underwent shoulder surgery in May, but he's expected to be ready for the start of the next KHL season, Corey Masisak of The Athletic reports. Mukhamadullin produced three goals and seven assists in 39 contests with Salavat Yulaev Ufa of the KHL last season. A first-round pick from 2020, Mukhamadullin is expected to spend at least one more year in his native Russia before making the jump to North America's AHL. He's expected to need a couple of seasons beyond that before he could potentially make an impact for the Devils at the NHL level.
