  • Predators' Justin Barron: Tallies in season finale

Barron scored a goal and went plus-3 in Wednesday's 5-1 win over the Stars. Barron posted two goals, two assists, 14 shots on net, 14 blocked shots, 13 hits and a minus-6 rating over eight games in April. He received steady playing time with the Predators after he was traded from the Canadiens in December. The results were mixed -- Barron totaled six goals, seven assists, a minus-18 rating, 73 shots on net, 80 hits and 83 blocked shots over 62 appearances between the two teams this season. The 23-year-old is under contract for 2025-26, but so are six other blueliners on Nashville's NHL roster.

  • Predators' Justin Barron: Pockets assist in loss

Barron notched an assist and four hits in Saturday's 5-3 loss to the Golden Knights. Barron's offense has slowed down lately -- he has two points over six outings in April, but he had just one assist over 15 games in March. The 23-year-old is still seeing significant playing time due to numerous injuries on the Predators' blue line. Barron is at 11 points, 72 shots on net, 79 hits, 79 blocked shots and a minus-20 rating over 60 appearances between Nashville and Montreal this season.

  • Predators' Justin Barron: Deposits goal in loss

Barron scored a goal on three shots and blocked two shots in Tuesday's 8-4 loss to the Blue Jackets. Barron ended a 12-game point drought with the tally. He had 16 shots on net, 18 hits and 16 blocked shots in that span, and he also kept an even plus-minus rating. The 23-year-old defenseman has grown his responsibility during his time in Nashville following a December trade from Montreal. He's now at 10 points, 62 shots on net, 71 blocked shots, 68 hits and a minus-12 rating over 55 appearances between the two teams this season.

  • Predators' Justin Barron: Gathers assist in victory

Barron logged an assist, two shots on goal and a plus-2 rating in Thursday's 5-3 win over the Kraken. Barron helped out on Michael McCarron's tally late in the second period, which was the game-winner. The 23-year-old Barron was scratched Tuesday versus the Bruins, but with Luke Schenn getting dealt to the Penguins on Wednesday, an opening on defense reemerged. Barron's place in the lineup isn't safe though -- the Predators claimed Jordan Oesterle off waivers from the Bruins on Thursday. Barron is at nine points, 43 shots on net, 53 blocked shots, 49 hits and a minus-12 rating through 42 appearances between Nashville and Montreal this season.

  • Predators' Justin Barron: Helps out on power play

Barron recorded a power-play assist in Thursday's 2-1 win over the Jets. Barron appears to be a candidate for power-play time during Roman Josi's (upper body) absence. For this contest, Barron filled in on the second power-play unit and set up a Thomas Novak goal late in the first period, which stood as the game-winner. The 23-year-old Barron is up to eight points in 39 outings this season, seven of which he's earned over 22 games since he was dealt from Montreal to Nashville. The defenseman has added 40 shots on net, 46 hits, 51 blocked shots and a minus-12 rating between the two teams.

With six points over his last 12 contests, Barron has done fairly well on offense, but he also has a minus-2 rating in that span. For the season, the 23-year-old blueliner is at seven points, 38 shots on net, 48 blocked shots, 42 hits, 14 PIM and a minus-9 rating over 36 appearances between the Predators and the Canadiens.

Barron scored a goal on two shots and went plus-3 in Tuesday's 5-3 win over the Golden Knights. The goal was his first point over eight games since Nashville acquired him from Montreal. • Predators' Justin Barron: At practice Friday

Barron (not injury related) has joined his new team on the ice for Friday's practice session, Brooks Bratten of the Predators' official site reports. Barron wasn't able to join the Predators in time to face the Penguins on Thursday but could be in line to make his Nashville debut in Saturday's clash with the Kings after Marc Del Gaizo and Kevin Gravel were both sent down to AHL Milwaukee on Friday. Still, if Roman Josi (lower body) is activated off injured reserve, Barron could find himself relegated to the press box -- much like he often was during his time with Montreal.

  • Predators' Justin Barron: Won't play Thursday

Barron will not arrive in time to face the Penguins on Thursday, Brooks Bratten of the Predators' official site reports. Barron was just traded to the Predators on Wednesday, so it would have been a quick turnaround for him to jump into the lineup immediately. Once he does link up with the club, Barron is far from a lock to be in the lineup on a nightly basis, especially when Jeremy Lauzon (lower body) and Roman Josi (lower body) are cleared to play.

  • Predators' Justin Barron: Flipped in trade to Nashville

Barron was traded to the Predators from the Canadiens on Wednesday in exchange for Alexandre Carrier. It's a flip of defensemen on bottom-dwelling teams. The Canadiens will get a more established player to bolster their blue line, while the Predators will try to unlock some upside in Barron, who has played sparingly this year. Barron has a goal, 16 shots on net, 20 blocked shots, 17 hits and a minus-4 rating over 17 appearances this season. He'll likely occupy a third-pairing role in Nashville.

  • Canadiens' Justin Barron: Filling part-time role

Barron has played in just five of the Canadiens' 16 games since the start of November after sitting out Saturday's 4-2 loss to the Capitals. Barron appears to be on the outside looking in for now. Jayden Struble and Arber Xhekaj are ahead of him on the depth chart, though Barron tends to draw in whenever there's an injury concern. Barron has one goal, 14 shots on net, 15 hits, 15 blocked shots, eight PIM and a minus-6 rating through 13 appearances this season.

  • Canadiens' Justin Barron: Back in lineup

Barron had one block and one hit in Thursday's 6-3 loss to the Capitals. Barron was back in the active lineup after missing three games due to an upper-body injury. He lined up on the third pair with Jayden Struble and finished minus-2 over 10:52 of ice time. Barron's return prompted the Habs to make Arber Xhekaj a healthy scratch.

  • Canadiens' Justin Barron: Set to return Thursday

Barron (upper body) is set to return to the Canadiens' lineup for Thursday's road game against the Capitals. Barron has been unavailable for Montreal's last three games due to an upper-body injury, but he traveled with the team ahead of its road trip and will return to the ice in Washington along with Kaiden Guhle (upper body). Over his first seven appearances of the season, Barron has recorded a goal on eight shots while also racking up 13 hits and eight blocked shots.

Barron (upper body) left Tuesday's game versus the Rangers after receiving a high hit from Jacob Trouba, Eric Engels of Sportsnet reports. Barron was hit in the third period and didn't return to the contest, finishing with 15:01 of ice time. There was no update after the game, leaving the defenseman questionable for Saturday's game versus the Blues. If Barron can't play, Arber Xhekaj will likely return to the lineup after being a healthy scratch Tuesday.

Barron was reassigned to AHL Laval on Wednesday. Barron had seven goals, 13 points, 16 PIM, 61 hits and 59 blocks in 48 contests with the Canadiens this season. He has also provided two goals and 11 points in 30 outings with Laval. Montreal's campaign is over, but the 22-year-old should factor into the big club's plans for the 2024-25 campaign. Before that, though, Barron will need a new contract, because he's set to become a restricted free agent this summer.

  • Canadiens' Justin Barron: Nets overtime winner Monday

Barron netted a goal in a 3-2 overtime win over the Jets on Monday. Barron accounted for the game-winning goal, scoring on the power play at 1:09 of the extra frame. It was both his first GWG and PPG of the 2023-24 campaign. Through 28 contests this season, he has six markers and 11 points. The 22-year-old also registered two assists in his previous contest Saturday, making this just the second time this year he's recorded at least a point in consecutive appearances -- the other instance was from Oct. 23-24 when he scored in back-to-back games.

Barron had two assists and two shots on net over 17:55 of ice time in Saturday's 5-3 win over the Islanders. Barron assisted on both of Josh Anderson's second-period tallies. The two-assist night was Barron's first multi-point effort and snapped a five-game run without a point, his longest such drought of the season. Barron has five goals, five assists, 32 shots, 30 hits and 46 blocked shots over 27 games.

  • Canadiens' Justin Barron: Shows offense in OT loss

Barron scored a goal on one shot and blocked three shots over 19:24 of ice time in Saturday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Red Wings. Barron stemmed Detroit's early onslaught, scoring Montreal's first goal with seven seconds left in the first period to cut the Red Wings' lead to 3-1. His pinch led to a Nick Suzuki shot that was blocked right onto the stick of Barron, who deposited his fifth goal in 21 games. The 22-year-old blueliner has a 21.7 shooting percentage and is tied for sixth among defensemen in tallies.
