  • Hurricanes' Scott Morrow: Sent down Friday

Morrow was assigned to AHL Chicago on Friday. After appearing in just two games for the Hurricanes last year, Morrow made 14 appearances in the NHL this season. He recorded a goal, five assists, 16 blocked shots and three hits while averaging 15:48 of ice time, but he'll likely remain in the AHL for the Wolves' playoff run.

  • Hurricanes' Scott Morrow: Pockets assist

Morrow produced an assist and four shots on goal in Saturday's 5-1 loss to the Bruins. Morrow has played in consecutive contests as the Hurricanes look to rest defensemen ahead of the playoffs. Dmitry Orlov sat Friday in Detroit, while Jalen Chatfield was out Saturday, allowing Morrow to get a little more experience in a third-pairing role. For the season, Morrow has a goal, four assists, 18 shots on net, eight blocked shots and a plus-3 rating over nine outings.

  • Hurricanes' Scott Morrow: Nets first career goal

Morrow scored his first career NHL goal in Saturday's 5-0 shutout victory against Philadelphia. Morrow found the back of the net by backhanding a deflection off Philadelphia's Samuel Ersson. The 22-year-old Morrow has been highly effective offensively from the blue line with three points in his first six games of the season. While Morrow's promotion to the NHL has been in relief of the injured Dmitry Orlov (upper-body), Morrow has made a strong case to remain with Carolina until the playoffs and could be an exciting name in fantasy for the Hurricanes in future years.

  • Hurricanes' Scott Morrow: Earns first career helper

Morrow notched an assist and blocked two shots in Sunday's 4-2 win over the Jets. His assist set up Mark Jankowski's first goal as a Hurricane. Morrow needed five games to get his first NHL point, and he's added four shots on net and three blocked shots over three outings this season. The 22-year-old defenseman has a highly promising future, but his NHL time is likely to be limited in 2024-25 -- he's filling in for Dmitry Orlov, who has been out with a minor undisclosed injury for a couple of games.

  • Hurricanes' Scott Morrow: Summoned from minors

Morrow was recalled from AHL Chicago on Saturday. Riley Stillman was assigned to the Wolves in a related transaction. Morrow did not record a point in two appearances with the big club earlier in the campaign. Dmitry Orlov (undisclosed) might not be available for Sunday's home game against the Jets, which would open the door for Morrow to draw into the lineup.

  • Hurricanes' Scott Morrow: Heads to minors

Morrow was sent to AHL Chicago on Saturday, according to Cory Lavalette of the North State Journal. Morrow logged one shot and one block in 12:11 of ice time in Carolina's 7-3 victory over Utah on Saturday. He hasn't earned a point in two NHL outings this season while posting three shots on goal and one blocked shot. Morrow might be back with the Hurricanes after the break for the 4 Nations Face-Off.

  • Hurricanes' Scott Morrow: Nearing return

Morrow (undisclosed) will not be an option against Florida in Friday's preseason contest, according to Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site. Although Morrow won't play in Friday's contest, coach Rod Brind'Amour said that the 21-year-old "will be back any day now," Ruff reports. Morrow will be hard-pressed to earn time at the NHL level this season -- Carolina has a veteran-laden defense core. The 2021 second-round pick was highly productive during his time at UMass-Amherst -- he registered 94 points in 109 regular-season contests from the back end over the course of three seasons.
