Maple Leafs' Dennis Hildeby: Rough game against Canucks
Hildeby made 15 saves in a 3-0 loss to Vancouver on Saturday.
The first shot of the game sailed by Hildeby off Brock Boeser just 31 seconds into the game. It was an ominous omen, but the loss wasn't really on Hildeby -- his entire team didn't show up. Hildeby needs to be developing in the minors to fulfill his potential. He's a dynasty guy, not a redraft one. He has a 3.18 GAA and .891 save percentage in five starts this season.

Maple Leafs' Dennis Hildeby: Starting Saturday
Hildeby will guard the home net Saturday against Vancouver, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.
It'll be just the second start in 10 games for Hildeby -- he stopped 30 of 32 shots in an overtime win over the Flyers on Sunday in his last appearance. The 23-year-old Hildeby has made four starts this season, going 3-1-0 with a 3.23 GAA and an .892 save percentage. Vancouver has scored just one goal in two contests going into Saturday's matchup.

Maple Leafs' Max Domi: Deals helper in loss
Domi notched an assist in Thursday's 6-3 loss to the Hurricanes.
Domi's offense has slowed down again, which is likely a product of a drop in ice time since Auston Matthews returned from injury four games ago. Over the last 10 contests, Domi has put up four helpers, 15 shots on net and a minus-2 rating in a middle-six role. The 29-year-old center is at 15 points, 49 shots on net, 32 PIM and a plus-3 rating through 35 outings overall.

Maple Leafs' Nicholas Robertson: Scores in Thursday's loss
Robertson scored a goal on a team-high five shots in Thursday's 6-3 loss to the Hurricanes.
Robertson was scratched Tuesday versus the Flyers, his first time sitting out since Dec. 14. He responded as he did the last time, scoring in his first game back in the lineup. Consistency remains an issue, but Robertson has displayed some skills this year. He has seven goals, four assists, 52 shots on net, 37 hits and a plus-3 rating over 35 appearances. However, from a fantasy standpoint, his bottom-six assignment doesn't make him a reliable contributor.

Maple Leafs' Mitch Marner: Smothered by Canes checkers
Marner tallied an assist Thursday in a 6-3 loss to Carolina.
Unfortunately, both he and Auston Matthews were dominated by the Canes' checking line, and both men finished minus-6 on the night. Marner has three assists in his last two games. He's a proud guy who can shut down opponents, so he will lick his wounds for a minute and then recalibrate his approach for the Leafs' next game.

Maple Leafs' William Nylander: First goal in nine games
Nylander scored a goal in a 6-3 loss to the Hurricanes on Thursday.
Nylander blocked a shot at the right point and took off, skating in alone to score past Pyotr Kochetkov's blocker. The goal was his first in nine games, and his 24th overall. That puts him fourth in the NHL behind Leon Draisaitl (31), Mikko Rantanen (25) and Brayden Point (25). Willie scores in bunches, so this could be the start of a run.

Maple Leafs' Auston Matthews: Eight-game, 12-point streak
Matthews scored a goal Thursday in a 6-3 loss to Carolina.
Matthews has 12 points (five goals, seven assists) on an eight-game point streak. But he was also minus-6 on the night -- Jordan Staal lined up against him and smothered him while tapping the keg for three goals himself. Still, Matthews produces enough offensively that most fantasy players won't be too worried about his plus/minus.

Maple Leafs' Joseph Woll: Would like a couple goals back
Woll made 28 saves in a 6-3 loss to Carolina on Thursday.
He allowed five goals, at least two of which he'd like back. The Canes tight defensive style smothered the Leafs' scorers and took advantage of them offensively, too. Woll didn't play his best game, but he's been mostly solid this season. He'll shake it off and be ready next time out.

Maple Leafs' Joseph Woll: Will start Thursday
Woll will start on the road versus the Hurricanes on Thursday, Cory Lavalette of the North State Journal reports.
Woll is on a five-game winning streak, during which he has allowed just 10 goals on 152 shots (.934 save percentage). The 26-year-old will face his toughest test in a while against the Hurricanes, who have scored 17 goals over their last six contests, going 3-2-1 in that span.

Maple Leafs' Philippe Myers: Registers assist in win
Myers notched an assist, five hits and two blocked shots in Tuesday's 3-2 win over the Flyers.
Myers has played in seven of the Maple Leafs' last eight games, earning two assists in that span. The 27-year-old earned a two-year contract extension with his play this season, and while he's not a lock for the lineup, he should have some security while Jake McCabe (upper body) is out. Myers is at three assists, 16 shots on net, 39 hits and 21 blocked shots over 14 appearances, offering a physical presence on the blue line.

Maple Leafs' Matthew Knies: Three-game, five-goal streak
Knies scored the game-winning goal Tuesday in a 3-2 victory over the Flyers.
Knies' goal gave him five during a three-game goal streak (seven points) after he went nine without a goal. The young wing is bursting with confidence. He's playing alongside Auston Matthews, and it's a matter of the superstar making the kid, at least right now. Knies is not as talented as his current exploits. But we'll take these goals 100 times out of 100.

Maple Leafs' Joseph Woll: Consistency improving
Woll made 30 saves in a 3-2 win over Philadelphia on Tuesday.
Woll's uptick in consistency of late has helped produce five straight wins with just 10 goals allowed. He has already started 19 games this season (he started 23 last year), and his record is 19-14-0 with a 2.46 GAA and a .915 save percentage. Plus the team in front of Woll has elevated its game, especially defensively, while they continue to score. It's a great scenario for Woll, but we need to keep an eye on his workload and adjust accordingly.

Maple Leafs' John Tavares: Overpowers Flyers
Tavares scores a goal and added an assist Tuesday in a 3-2 win over the Flyers.
The goal came on the power play, and it was his 20th of the season. Tavares has 15 20-goal seasons, which ties him with Evgeni Malkin for fourth-most among active players, behind Alex Ovechkin (19), Patrick Kane (16) and Sidney Crosby (16). Tavares' point streak stands at three games and four points (one goal, three assists; six shots).

Maple Leafs' Mitch Marner: Multi-point monster this season
Marner put up two assists in a 3-2 win over Philadelphia on Tuesday.
It was Marner's 20th multi-point game of the season, tying him for the NHL lead with Leon Draisaitl. He continues to feature in the NHL's top-five lists for assists (44) and points (58). This is the year Marner cracks 100 points. Put it on the board.

Maple Leafs' Auston Matthews: Record-setting game
Matthews scored a goal and added an assist in a 3-2 win over the Flyers on Tuesday.
It was Matthews' 200th multi-point game of his NHL career; it came in his 589th outing, the fastest by a US-born player in NHL history. He's also the fourth-fastest active player to reach 200, behind Sidney Crosby (465 games), Connor McDavid (466) and Alex Ovechkin (570). But it was the superstar's other skills that helped the Leafs get the third-period win. Matthews went 11-for-21 at the dot and blocked two shots in 20:51 of ice time, 2:44 on the penalty kill. His overall game is evolving under Craig Berube, and it could be the reason the Leafs finally contend for a parade this season.
