Capitals' Tom Wilson: Snags helper in return
Wilson registered a power-play assist in Wednesday's 4-3 loss to the Canucks.
Wilson missed the previous eight games due to a lower-body injury. He wasn't eased in, logging 20:20 of ice time in this contest, though he wasn't quite as physical as usual. The 31-year-old winger is up to 22 goals, 21 helpers, 98 shots on net, 111 hits, 59 PIM and a plus-21 rating through 42 appearances this season. He should be good to handle a top-six role moving forward.

Capitals' John Carlson: Reaches 600-assist mark in career
Carlson logged two helpers, four shots on goal and two PIM in Wednesday's 4-3 loss to the Canucks.
With the effort, Carlson became the 21st blueliner in NHL history to earn 600 assists. He achieved the milestone in his 1,135th game. He's done good work recently with a goal and 10 helpers over his last nine outings. For the season, the 36-year-old is at 40 points (eight on the power play), 100 shots on net, 67 blocked shots, 22 PIM and a plus-11 rating over 47 contests.

Capitals' Justin Sourdif: Earns two points in loss
Sourdif scored a power-play goal on three shots and added an assist in Wednesday's 4-3 loss to the Canucks.
Sourdif has been back in the lineup for two games after missing three due to an upper-body injury. The 23-year-old forward is settling in again as a middle-six forward with power-play time, giving him a chance to continue his strong first NHL campaign. He's at 10 goals, 21 points (two on the power play), 63 shots on net, 57 hits, 19 PIM and a plus-12 rating over 47 appearances.

Capitals' Dylan Strome: In on all three goals in loss
Strome scored twice and added an assist in Wednesday's 4-3 loss to the Canucks.
This was Strome's first multi-point effort since Dec. 29 versus the Panthers. Two of his points came on the power play in this contest. He's picked up three goals and four assists, including five power-play points, over the last six games. For the season, the veteran center has 13 goals, 40 points (14 on the power play), 96 shots on net, 32 blocked shots and a plus-5 rating through 49 appearances.

Capitals' Logan Thompson: Tough loss in Vancouver
Thompson allowed four goals on 25 shots in Wednesday's 4-3 loss to the Canucks.
Considering the opponent, this wasn't a great loss to take for Thompson. It's worse than it looks as well, as the Capitals scored the first two goals of the game before the Canucks worked their way back into it. Thompson has lost three straight games, surrendering 10 goals on 80 shots in that span. He's down to a 17-15-4 record with a 2.43 GAA and a .913 save percentage over 36 starts. The Capitals have a back-to-back on the schedule next, visiting the Flames on Friday and the Oilers on Saturday, so look for Thompson and Charlie Lindgren to split those games.

Miroshnichenko was reassigned to AHL Hershey on Wednesday.
Tom Wilson (lower body) was activated off injured reserve in a corresponding move. Miroshnichenko has no points, five shots, seven hits and three blocks in four appearances with the Capitals in 2025-26. He also has six goals and 16 points in 20 outings with Hershey this campaign.

Capitals' Tom Wilson: Off injured reserve
Wilson (lower body) was activated off injured reserve Wednesday, per the NHL media site,
Wilson had been awaiting medical clearance to return from an eight-game absence, and it appears he got it ahead of Wednesday's game against Vancouver. The 31-year-old has 22 goals, 42 points, 59 PIM and 110 hits in 41 outings in 2025-26. Ivan Miroshnichenko was reassigned to AHL Hershey in a corresponding move after playing in Washington's past two games.

Capitals' Tom Wilson: Awaiting medical clearance
Wilson (lower body) will be a game-time call ahead of Wednesday's clash with Vancouver, Bailey Johnson of The Washington Post reports.
Wilson told reporters he needed to speak with the medical team before making a final decision regarding his availability. Prior to getting hurt, the gritty winger racked up five goals and three assists, including one power-play point, in his last four outings. If Wilson does play, Ivan Miroshnichenko could find himself relegated to the press box as a healthy scratch.

Capitals' Logan Thompson: First goalie off Wednesday
Thompson was the first goalie off during Wednesday's morning skate, Bailey Johnson of The Washington Post reports, indicating that he'll draw the road start against Vancouver.
Thompson has struggled to enter the win column since the start of the calendar year, going 2-4-1 despite a 2.56 GAA and a .912 save percentage. Vancouver is tied for the second-fewest goals per game in the league this campaign with 2.55, which could help Thompson's cause.

Capitals' Brett Leason: Three points in AHL overtime loss
Leason scored twice and added an assist in AHL Hershey's 5-4 overtime loss to Hartford on Tuesday.
Leason continues to do well in the AHL. He's earned 17 points over 21 contests. This was his first game back from a stint in the NHL, where he was held scoreless in six outings. Leason's experienced enough to fill in as a fourth-line option for the Capitals, but he's unlikely to have any fantasy appeal even if he gets another call-up.

Capitals' Jakob Chychrun: Tallies on power play
Chychrun scored a power-play goal on three shots, blocked four shots and added six PIM in Monday's 5-2 loss to the Avalanche.
Chychrun gave his fantasy managers a strong performance, though it was a mixed bag on the ice. The 27-year-old has four goals and four assists over 11 contests since the holiday break. For the season, the defenseman is up to 18 goals, 36 points (10 on the power play), 159 shots on net, 65 blocked shots, 42 hits, 45 PIM and a plus-23 rating over 48 appearances. He's well on his way to a career year in most areas.

Capitals' Ethen Frank: Two points in Monday's loss
Frank scored an even-strength goal and added a power-play assist in Monday's 5-2 loss to the Avalanche.
The 27-year-old winger continues to take advantage of the absence of Tom Wilson (lower body). Since Wilson was injured Jan. 3, Frank has stepped into a top-six role and responded with five goals and seven points in nine games, including one tally and one helper on the power play. Wilson appears close to a return, so Frank's surge of fantasy value could be close to an end.

Capitals' Charlie Lindgren: Buried by Avs
Lindgren made 39 saves in Monday's 5-2 loss to Colorado.
The Capitals were outshot 44-24 on the afternoon, but Lindgren did his best to keep things close until the Avs finally pulled away in the third period. The veteran netminder has given up at least three goals in six straight starts dating back to Dec. 16, going 2-3-1 over that stretch with a 3.81 GAA and an .881 save percentage.
