WNBA Commissioner's Cup 2025: How to watch, schedule, standings, results, format, prize money

The Commissioner's Cup championship will take place on July 1

The group stage of the 2025 Commissioner's Cup has come to a close, and the championship game is now set. The defending champion Minnesota Lynx will represent the Western Conference, and play host to the Indiana Fever, who earned the Eastern Conference's spot and will make their first ever trip to the championship. 

Entering Tuesday, the final night of group stage play, there were five teams -- three in the East and two in the West -- with a chance to reach the championship. There was no drama out West, as the Lynx cruised past the Las Vegas Aces to punch their ticket. In the East, the Fever took care of business against the Connecticut Sun, but needed some help from the Liberty. Sabrina Ionescu and Co. obliged with a stunning 17-point second-half comeback over the Dream to ensure the Fever would advance.

Under a revamped format, each team played every other team in their conference once during the initial Cup games, which took place from June 1-17. Each Eastern Conference team played five games, while each Western Conference team played six games due to the addition of the expansion Golden State Valkyries. 

The team in each conference with the best record in the Cup games advanced to the Commissioner's Cup championship on July 1 which will be hosted by the Lynx because they were the team with the best overall winning percentage in the Cup games. Once again, there will be a $500,000 prize pool on the line in the championship game.
