Will not hide that I have been getting massacred in SL MLB plays lately ... yet doing well in parlays that include MLB in the newsletter and CBS Sports SGPs. Simply don't like book numbers they give me, why should I be at their disposal? Want to manipulate the number. I'll just flat-out tell you this is part of my NL parlay today (but fine solo). Really not a losable game you'd think, but I've thought that for a while. Usually this is when it's time to "separate the wheat from the chaff." I'm honestly expecting to crush the final MLB week or so because now it's truly all about motivation. The Athletics have none other than Pebble Beach tee times on Sept. 28.

I haven't seen anything from Miami that'll suggest that they'll stub their toe against a Wake Forest team that can score. The Hurricanes have been consistently excellent, keeping their foot on the gas the entire game. I don't think people realize how good they've been defensively as well.

Analysis

Houston’s offensive efficiency makes me believe the Cougars will keep it within a touchdown. The Cougars rank 27th in PPA/play, 22nd in success rate, and 18th on third downs, while generating 0.41 PPA/pass. It's early, but I haven't been impressed with Tech's defense. They rank 91st in PPA/play allowed, 73rd against the pass, and 135th in explosiveness. Their offense has been fine, but far from dominant, ranking 43rd in PPA/play and 69th in success rate. Houston's run defense looks improved and should make Tech have to beat them through the air. An upset could be brewing.

Analysis

Last season the Cougars were entering this game undefeated at 4-0 and ended up getting spanked 35-11 at home. Now, they are much better on offense and they're facing a Texas Tech squad coming off of a sloppy victory against Oregon State. To me, last week was the wake up call for the Red Raiders and this point spread also is showing a tip of the cap to Houston's improvement.

Analysis

I'm too afraid to take the Coogs straight up, but I like them catching this many touchdowns. Texas Tech looks far more vulnerable than the Tech of last season, and Houston has improved along the offensive line. Also, Houston has been great in close games under Willie Fritz, and Tech simply hasn't played many in a while.
