The 2024-25 Kentucky basketball roster was dismantled following John Calipari's exit last offseason. Now in his second year, head coach Mark Pope is doing another roster overhaul with key players Lamont Butler, Jaxson Robinson, Amari Williams and Koby Brea among those who are out of eligibility. Pope isn't leaning on the one-and-done approach as much as Calipari, though he does have three highly-rated recruits coming in. Which other players could be leaving via the Kentucky basketball transfer portal and who will Pope target to replace them? Kentucky basketball roster news

Pope has at a minimum of four scholarships to work with in the portal. That number could certainly grow if more current players opt to leave. Point guard should be an emphasis with Butler (graduation) and backup Kerr Kriisa (portal) both departing.

Jaland Lowe of Pittsburgh, Ja'Kobi Gillespie of Maryland and Frankie Collins of TCU are some of the targets that CatsPause has confirmed Kentucky has interest in. Of that group, Gillespie is the highest profile. A member of Maryland's famous 'Crab Five,' Gillespie averaged 14.7 points and 4.8 assists per game for Maryland's Sweet 16 squad this season.

The Wildcats will have to battle Tennessee, in particular, for his services since Gillespie is an East Tennessee native and the Vols need a point guard after the departure of Zakai Zeigler. Get the latest Kentucky basketball roster news at CatsPause.
