WAKE vs. DUKE Live updates Score, results, highlights, for Saturday's NCAAF game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Wake Forest vs. Duke football game
Game Recap
When you finish with 314 more yards than your opponent like the Wake Forest Demon Deacons did on Saturday, a favorable outcome is almost sure to follow. They walked away with a 39-27 win over the Duke Blue Devils. That result was just more of the same for Wake, who also won the last time these teams played (Nov. 24 of last year).
QB Jamie Newman had a stellar game for the Demon Deacons as he picked up 144 yards on the ground on 29 carries and accumulated 284 passing yards. Newman's 62-yard touchdown toss to WR Kendall Hinton in the third quarter made for one of the most memorable moments of the night. Kicker K Nick Sciba added his talents, too, launching four field goals between the uprights.
No one had a big game offensively for Duke, but they got one touchdown from QB Quentin Harris.
The Demon Deacons will square off against the Syracuse Orange at 12:30 p.m. ET next week at Carrier Dome. The defensive coordinators surely put in extra hours ahead of this matchup since these teams' offenses combined for 1,071 yards this week. Duke will take on the Miami (FL) Hurricanes at 3:30 p.m. ET at home. Given that those two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
