General manager Ned Colletti says the Los Angeles Dodgers will focus on adding a starting pitcher in free agency, according to Steve Dilbeck of the Los Angeles Times.

The effort to add rotation help stems from injuries to Ted Lilly and Chad Billingsley. Lilly is still recovering from arthroscopic surgery that ended his season in May. Billingsley could require Tommy John surgery, which the team won't know until mid-November.

The top option on the free-agent market is expected to be Zack Greinke, who previously declined a five-year, $100-million contract with the Brewers before being traded to the Angels this summer.

An American League executive recently predicted Grienke would land a six-year, $125-million deal this offseason, according to CBSSports.com's Jon Heyman, who also added that Greinke will only sign with a team if he's convinced it is "ready to win."

The Dodgers' new owners have shown a willingness to spend money, including the trade that brought Adrian Gonzalez, Carl Crawford and Josh Beckett to Los Angeles in August.

If the team doesn't sign a starting pitcher in free agency, it could turn to the trade market, which could include Josh Johnson.
