Edward Cabrera made two trips to the injured list last season due to a right shoulder impingement and continued to be plagued by inconsistent command and control when on the field. He turned in a 3.57 ERA overall in the second half even as his walk issues got the better of him multiple times. The right-hander leans heavily on his fastball-changeup combo while mixing in a breaking ball, and the stuff has been good enough for him to post a 26 percent strikeout rate for his career. However, occasional homer issues exacerbate the walks when he struggles to hit his spots, and injuries have held him back. Whether the command ever materializes remains the big question, and until that missing piece comes along, he will remain susceptible to blowups. The Marlins are likely holding out hope and figure to give Cabrera at least one more chance to prove himself in a starting role.
