Prielipp was in control for much of his second big-league start, allowing just one baserunner before surrendering two runs in the fifth inning. The rookie southpaw leaned heavily on his slider, throwing it 36 times among 84 pitches and generating six whiffs on the bender. Through his first two MLB appearances, Prielipp has allowed four runs on five hits and three walks while striking out 11 across nine innings.
Prielipp is slated to start Monday's game against the Mariners at Target Field.
The Twins have elected to keep the 25-year-old lefty around for another turn through the rotation after a serviceable showing in his MLB debut Wednesday, when he struck out six and allowed two earned runs on four hits and no walks over four innings in a no-decision versus the Mets. Since Mick Abel (elbow) is set to remain on the injured list through at least the upcoming week, Prielipp will tentatively line up for a two starts, with his second turn expected to come over the weekend at home versus the Blue Jays.

He threw just 23.1 innings last year while working his way back from the latter injury. It's not clear if the Twins will keep him as a starter or move him to the bullpen long term, but he has the strikeout rate to be an impact arm in the majors (41.6% K% at High-A last season).
