  • Diamondbacks' Eduardo Rodriguez: Punches out nine in first win

Rodriguez (1-2) struck out nine and earned the win Thursday in a 6-4 victory over Miami after giving up three runs (one earned) on 10 hits and no walks over 5.1 innings.

A pair of errors led to two unearned runs for the Marlins, which was fortunate for Rodriguez's line given how many baserunners he allowed. The left-hander didn't issue a walk for the first time this season, but he still exhibited some shaky control with a pair of wild pitches. Rodriguez surrendered seven runs in his first two starts of the season but has settled in during his past two outings with just three earned runs, though the 16 hits he's allowed remain a concern.

  • Diamondbacks' Eduardo Rodriguez: Stuck with loss in quality start

Rodriguez (0-2) took the loss Friday as the Diamondbacks were downed 7-0 by the Brewers, giving up three runs (two earned) on six hits and two walks over 6.1 innings. He struck out three.

The veteran lefty delivered his first quality start of 2025 on 95 pitches (62 strikes), but it wasn't good enough as Arizona's bats got completely stymied by Jose Quintana. Rodriguez has a 4.86 ERA through his first three outings of the season, but his 1.20 WHIP and 20:6 K:BB through 16.2 innings might be a better reflection of how effective he's been. Rodriguez will look for his first win of the campaign in his next trip to the mound, which is scheduled to come on the road next week in Miami.

  • Diamondbacks' Eduardo Rodriguez: Strikes out 12 in loss

Rodriguez (0-1) took the loss against the Nationals on Saturday, allowing four runs on five hits and one walk with 12 strikeouts over five innings.

Rodriguez gave up three two-out runs in the first inning but settled in nicely from there, pounding the zone with 58 strikes on 90 pitches and racking up an impressive 12 punchouts. Though the results haven't quite clicked through his first two outings, the veteran southpaw looks healthy following an injury-plagued 2024 campaign. He'll carry a 6.10 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 17:4 K:BB over 10.1 innings into a home start against the Brewers next weekend.

  • Diamondbacks' Eduardo Rodriguez: No-decision in debut

Rodriguez did not factor into the decision Sunday against the Cubs, allowing three runs on three hits and three walks over 5.1 innings. He struck out five.

Rodriguez was solid for the most part Sunday, but two of the hits off him left the ballpark -- Dansby Swanson led off the second inning with a solo home run before Seiya Suzuki launched a two-run shot in the sixth. Rodriguez will look to limit the long ball in his next outing, currently lined up for next week in Washington. Injuries limited the left-hander to 10 starts (50 innings) in 2024, when he posted a 5.04 ERA with a 1.50 WHIP and 47:19 K:BB.

  • Diamondbacks' Eduardo Rodriguez: Next outing on back fields

Rodriguez will make his next start Wednesday on a back field, Alex Weiner of Arizona Sports reports

Rodriguez tossed 3.2 dominant innings against the Reds on Friday, and the decision to hold him out of Cactus League competition for his next start does not indicate anything other than a scheduling issue. The club plans to start Jordan Montgomery on Wednesday, so Rodriguez will get his work in while maintaining his five-day schedule.

  • Diamondbacks' Eduardo Rodriguez: Dominant Friday

Rodriguez struck out six over 3.2 hitless and scoreless innings in Friday's spring start against the Reds.

Rodriguez retired all 11 batters he faced on 44 pitches (29 strikes) in his second Cactus League outing. The Reds played split-squad games Friday and did not have their best nine on the field, but Rodriguez was sharp and pleased with all his offerings. "Feel like everything (worked), it's one of those days you don't want to come out," Rodriguez told Alex Weiner of Arizona Sports. "Everything I was throwing was just going right where I wanted." He should get another two spring starts before taking his first turn in the regular season.

  • Diamondbacks' Eduardo Rodriguez: Makes spring debut

Rodriguez allowed one walk and struck out one over two scoreless innings in Sunday's spring start against the Rangers.

Rodriguez cruised through his first Cactus League start, setting down the side in order in the first inning and working around a two-out walk in the second. He threw 31 pitches (18 strikes). The left-hander told Steve Gilbert of MLB.com following Sunday's outing that he threw all of his pitches and feels everything is right where he wants it to be, which suggests the pitcher will be ready to go come Opening Day. Rodriguez opened the 2024 season on the injured list due to a shoulder issue and was limited to just 10 starts in the first year of a four-year contract.

  • Diamondbacks' Eduardo Rodriguez: Spring debut coming Sunday

Rodriguez will make his Cactus League debut Sunday against the Rangers, Alex Weiner of Arizona Sports reports.

Rodriguez will be the last of Arizona's healthy starting pitchers to make his spring debut. Durability issues have crept into the left-hander's game heading into his age-32 season. Rodriguez made just 10 starts in 2024, the second time in three seasons with fewer than 20 starts.
