Diamondbacks' John Curtiss: Signs with Arizona
Curtiss signed a minor-league contract with the Diamondbacks on Tuesday that includes an invitation to spring training.
Most of Curtiss' time last season was spent at Triple-A Albuquerque, where he turned in a 3.96 ERA and 1.32 WHIP over 50 regular-season frames. However, his recent performance in the majors hasn't been as successful, as he's surrendered 14 earned runs in 22 regular-season innings since 2023. He'll have an opportunity to earn a spot at the end of Arizona's bullpen during spring training, but chances are he reports to Triple-A Reno to begin the 2025 campaign.

Diamondbacks' Scott McGough: Back with Snakes
McGough signed a minor-league contract with the Diamondbacks on Tuesday that includes an invitation to spring training.
The Diamondbacks declined their half of McGough's $4 million mutual option earlier in the offseason, but they will ultimately retain the righty's services on a minor-league deal. The 35-year-old reliever struggled mightily in the big leagues last season, posting a 7.44 ERA and 1.68 WHIP across 32.2 innings. Barring a drastic turnaround in spring training, he'll likely fill in as bullpen depth for Triple-A Reno.

Diamondbacks' Trey Mancini: Gets NRI deal with Arizona
The Diamondbacks signed Mancini to a minor-league contract Friday that includes an invitation to spring training, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
Mancini didn't play in 2024 after opting out of his minor-league deal with the Marlins, but he will now attempt to win a spot on Arizona's Opening Day roster. The Diamondbacks could use a right-handed bat to balance their lineup, but Mancini joins a crowd competing for bench spots either at corner outfield or first base. Slated to turn 33 in March, Mancini slashed only .234/.299/.336 with four home runs over 79 games for the Cubs in 2023.

Diamondbacks' Randal Grichuk: Returns to AZ on one-year deal
Grichuk agreed to a one year, $5 million deal with the Diamondbacks on Tuesday, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.
Grichuk can earn up to $5.5 million through incentives in the deal. The 33-year-old declined his mutual option with Arizona at the end of October, but he now returns after appearing in 106 games during 2024. Grichuk generated an impressive .876 OPS across 279 plate appearances last season, just shy of the career-best .877 he posted in 2015 for St. Louis. The right-handed veteran balances a lineup that skews lefty and should fill a short-side platoon role at designated hitter in 2025, considering his .319 average and .914 OPS over 184 plate appearances versus southpaws a season ago. Depending on how well Pavin Smith and others handle right-handed pitching as part of a DH platoon, there could be additional opportunities for Grichuk.

Diamondbacks' Kyle Amendt: Joining major-league camp
Amendt was invited to major-league spring training by the Diamondbacks, Alex Weiner of Arizona Sports reports.
Amendt, a ninth-round pick in 2023 out of Dallas Baptist University, didn't bring a lot of cache to the organization, but the right-hander emerged in 2024. Among the minor-league pitchers who worked at least 40 innings, Amendt ranked fifth in both K/9 (15.3) and strikeout percentage (40.3), per Jesse Borek of MLB.com. He was a closer in college and worked out of the bullpen at High-A Hillsboro, Double-A Amarillo and Triple-A Reno. There was initially a challenge at Reno -- he allowed multiple runs in his first two appearances -- but he finished with a 1.80 ERA over his final 11 outings. Amendt uses a fastball and curveball, which tends to break away from lefties due to his unique delivery.

Diamondbacks' Gino Groover: Attending major-league camp
Groover was invited to major-league camp for spring training, Alex Weiner of Arizona Sports
Groover, the team's second-round selection in 2023, hit .281/.367/.474 last season with 10 home runs in 61 games over three minor-league stops. He missed significant time early with a broken wrist and eventually finished at Double-A Amarillo. Groover made up for lost reps in the Arizona Fall League, where he hit .339 in 18 games. He's spent time on the diamond at first, second and third base, but Groover needs to improve defensively if he's to stick at third. The soon-to-be 23-year-old showed good plate discipline in the minors, walking nearly as much as striking out.

Diamondbacks' Kristian Robinson: Gets invite to MLB camp
Robinson will be a non-roster invitee to major-league camp for spring training, Alex Weiner of Arizona Sports reports.
Robinson had a full season of minor-league ball in 2024, his first after missing significant development time from 2020 to 2023 due to COVID-19 and visa issues stemming from a police incident. Prior to that, the 24-year-old right-handed-hitting outfielder was Arizona's top prospect. Robinson hit .213/.337/.343 with 10 home runs, 41 RBI and stole 10 bases for Double-A Amarillo last year. He also spent time in the Arizona Fall League, compiling an .854 OPS with nine steals over 19 games.

Diamondbacks' Garrett Hampson: Agrees to NRI deal with Arizona
The Diamondbacks signed Hampson to a minor-league contract Friday that includes an invitation to spring training.
Hampson slashed only .230/.275/.300 with zero home runs and seven stolen bases over 113 regular-season contests with the Royals in 2024. The 30-year-old played seven different positions for Kansas City and will operate as a utility player, either in Arizona or at Triple-A Reno.

Diamondbacks' Bryce Jarvis: Activated from 60-day IL
The Diamondbacks activated Jarvis (elbow) off the 60-day injured list in November.
Jarvis sustained an elbow sprain in August that ended his 2024 season. He'll join the mix of pitchers this spring looking to land a spot in the bullpen as a multi-inning reliever. A former starter in the minors, Jarvis started last season as a reliever and pitched to a 3.19 ERA and 1.43 WHIP over 44 appearances (59.1 innings). His 33 walks are a red flag.

Diamondbacks' Josh Winder: Gets spring invite from Arizona
Winder signed a minor-league contract with the Diamondbacks on Thursday that includes an invitation to spring training, Alex D'Agostino of Sports Illustrated reports.
Winder appeared in four games for the Twins last season, allowing three runs and striking out 10 batters over nine innings. He didn't have nearly the same amount of success in the minors, however, finishing the Triple-A season with a 6.15 ERA and 1.66 WHIP across 41 frames. Until he can get back to finding consistent success, most of his time will likely be spent at Triple-A Reno.

Diamondbacks' Rene Pinto: Scooped up by Arizona
The Diamondbacks claimed Pinto off waivers from the Orioles on Friday, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.
Pinto has slashed .231/.263/.404 with 10 homers over 82 games at the big-league level but spent most of 2024 at Triple-A Durham in the Rays organization. He is out of minor-league options, so the Diamondbacks will need to carry him on the Opening Day roster or attempt to pass him through waivers.
