  • Red Sox's Nick Pivetta: Strikes out nine in no-decision

Pivetta allowed one run on four hits and one walk while striking out nine batters over six innings in a no-decision against Baltimore on Wednesday.

The only run Pivetta allowed came on an Emmanuel Rivera solo shot in the third inning. The right-handed hurler was otherwise excellent, notching his highest strikeout total since he tallied 10 punchouts against Seattle on July 29. Pivetta has been on a nice roll of late, notching three straight quality starts during which he's allowed just four runs while posting a 21:5 K:BB over 18 frames.

  • Red Sox's Nick Pivetta: Delivers quality start

Pivetta allowed a run on five hits and three walks over six innings in a no-decision Friday. He struck out six during a win over the White Sox.

Pivetta gave up a run in the second inning but was able to avoid any further damage despite some shaky command. It was his second straight quality start after failing to finish at least six innings in any of his previous three outings. Pivetta has produced a 4.39 ERA while going 0-2 over his last five appearances and he hasn't earned a win since July 29. He's sporting a 4.38 ERA with a 147:31 K:BB through 123.1 innings this season. Pivetta is in line for a home matchup against the Orioles next week.

  • Red Sox's Nick Pivetta: Outdueled by Skubal on Saturday

Pivetta (5-10) took the loss Saturday, giving up two runs on six hits and a walk over six innings, as the Red Sox were downed 2-1 by the Tigers. He struck out six.

The right-hander kept Boston in the game with his eighth quality start of the season, but Pivetta was matched up against AL Cy Young favorite Tarik Skubal and came out on the losing end. Most encouragingly, Pivetta didn't serve up a homer after being taken deep 10 times over his five prior outings, a stretch in which he'd stumbled to a 7.50 ERA. He'll look to stay on track in his next trip to the mound, which lines up to come at home next weekend against the woeful White Sox.

  • Red Sox's Nick Pivetta: Taking hill for suspended game

Pivetta is scheduled to pitch Monday, when the Red Sox resume a game with the Blue Jays that was suspended in the second inning back on June 26, Chris Cotillo MassLive.com reports.

Pivetta will technically be making his first relief appearance of the season Monday; Kutter Crawford picked up the start in the June 26 contest and worked 1.1 innings before the game was suspended due to inclement weather. Once the suspended game is completed, Pivetta's official game log will attribute any statistics as having been accrued June 26. After pitching Monday, Pivetta will line up for his next start in Detroit during the upcoming weekend.

  • Red Sox's Nick Pivetta: Gives up five runs Tuesday

Pivetta allowed five runs on six hits and three walks while striking out two over five innings in a no-decision versus the Astros on Tuesday.

Pivetta has allowed multiple home runs in five straight starts, though he's managed to take just two losses in that span. For the season, he's at a 4.70 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 125:27 K:BB through 105.1 innings over 20 starts. Pivetta's next start is projected to be at home versus the Blue Jays.

  • Red Sox's Nick Pivetta: Allows two homers in loss

Pivetta (5-8) took the loss against the Orioles on Thursday, allowing three runs on three hits and one walk while striking out six over five innings.

Pivetta kept the Orioles off the scoreboard for the first three innings before surrendering a two-run homer to Gunnar Henderson in the fourth and then a leadoff shot to Cedric Mullins to open the fifth. It marked the fourth consecutive start in which the right-hander has coughed up two long balls and he's also given up at least three runs in three of his last four outings. Pivetta has lost four of his last five decisions (spanning eight starts). However, he's also racked up six or more strikeouts in six of his last seven starts.

  • Red Sox's Nick Pivetta: Rejoining rotation Thursday

Pivetta (rest) is scheduled to make his next start Thursday in Baltimore, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.

Pivetta has stayed healthy since returning from a month-long stay on the injured list May 8, but the Red Sox opted to skip his turn in the rotation this past week to provide him with some extra rest after he had delivered a 7.71 ERA and 1.43 WHIP over his last three starts. After having made his last start Aug. 4, Pivetta will be taking the hill on 10 days' rest when he returns to the mound Thursday.

  • Red Sox's Nick Pivetta: Being skipped in rotation

Pivetta will have his next start skipped and won't pitch this weekend against the Astros as previously scheduled in order to provide him some extra rest, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.

The right-hander isn't dealing with an injury, but he's failed to cover five frames in two of his past three starts and has given up 13 runs (12 earned) in those three outings. Pivetta averaged 91.9 mph with his fastball during his previous start Sunday at Texas, which is down a couple ticks from his season average of 94.1 mph. The 31-year-old could be reinserted into the rotation next week for a rematch versus the Rangers.

Pivetta allowed two runs on two hits and a walk while striking out five over 4.2 innings in a no-decision versus the Rangers on Sunday.

He's also allowed multiple home runs, including solo shots by Corey Seager and Josh Jung in Sunday's contest, in each of his last three outings. For the season, Pivetta has a 4.44 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 117:23 K:BB through 95.1 innings over 18 starts. His next outing is projected to be at home versus the Astros.
