Top Haloti Ngata News

  • Haloti Ngata: Retiring from football

Ngata announced his retirement from the NFL on Monday, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.

Selected 12th overall in the 2006 draft, Ngata played nine seasons in Baltimore, three in Detroit and one in Philadelphia. He had 519 tackles and 32.5 sacks in 180 regular-season games, including three straight seasons (2011-13) with at least five sacks for the Ravens. Ngata was a first-team All-Pro in two of those three years and earned five consecutive Pro Bowl selections from 2009 to 2013. The Eagles are left without much depth at defensive tackle behind the impressive starting duo of Fletcher Cox and Malik Jackson.

  • Eagles' Haloti Ngata: Modest production in reserve role

Ngata contributed 17 tackles, one sack, one pass breakup and one forced fumble over 13 games in 2018.

Ngata assumed the smallest role of his career in his age-34 season, averaging just over 28 defensive snaps per contest while rotating in behind a number of other talented defensive linemen. His stat line showed it, too, and Ngata will now become an unrestricted free agent in March.

  • Eagles' Haloti Ngata: Ready to go

Ngata (knee) is active for Sunday's game against the Saints, Tim McManus of ESPN.com reports.

Ngata was initially listed as questionable for Sunday's tilt against New Orleans due to a knee injury but appears to have gotten fully healthy. The veteran defensive tackle will slot into Philadelphia's starting lineup as long as Timmy Jernigan (lower back) remains sidelined.

  • Eagles' Haloti Ngata: Listed as questionable

Ngata (knee) is officially listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Saints.

Ngata is nursing a knee injury of undisclosed severity, and his status for Week 11 remains uncertain. If the veteran is ultimately unable to suit up, the Eagles will be left with T.Y. McGill as their only healthy right defensive tackle for Sunday's tilt against New Orleans.

  • Eagles' Haloti Ngata: Cleared for London game

Ngata (calf) is active for Sunday's game against the Jaguars in London.

Ngata practiced throughout the week while nursing the calf injury, turning in limited sessions Wednesday and Thursday before upgrading to full participation Friday. With his calf apparently responding well to pre-game activity, Ngata should fill his usual role as a starting defensive tackle alongside Fletcher Cox. The tackle tandem will look to stuff up a Jacksonville running attack that now features Carlos Hyde to complement starter T.J. Yeldon, who continues to fill in for the injured Leonard Fournette (hamstring).

  • Eagles' Haloti Ngata: Questionable for Sunday

Ngata (calf) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Jaguars, Zach Berman of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Ngata will travel with the team to London, but the veteran's Week 8 availability will be a game-time decision, Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. If Ngata is unable to suit up, expect Bruce Hector to slot into the starting defensive lineup Sunday.

  • Eagles' Haloti Ngata: Sidelined for Sunday's contest

Ngata (calf) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Panthers, Tim McManus of ESPN.com reports.

Ngata will miss his third straight game, so Treyvon Hester will continue to see defensive snaps with Bruce Hector, who re-signed with Philly on Friday, expected to get some work as well. Ngata has six tackles (four solo) and one sack this season.
