Tigers' Tarik Skubal: Sparkles in victory
Skubal (7-2) worked seven shutout frames, allowing just three hits and two walks while striking out six to pick up the win during Thursday's 4-1 win over the Orioles.
Skubal has been as dominant as a pitcher can be lately, and that continued Thursday night after seven more shutout innings. The Tigers ace has surrendered just one run over his last four starts, all lasting seven innings or more. The 28-year-old did walk a batter for the first time since May 20, but that doesn't detract from his 0.29 ERA, 0.55 WHIP and 32 strikeouts over 30.2 frames in his past four outings. Skubal lines up for a favorable matchup versus the Pirates in his next start.

Tigers' Tarik Skubal: Strikes out six in win
Skubal (6-2) earned the win against the Cubs on Friday, allowing one run on eight hits and no walks with six strikeouts over 7.2 innings.

The lefty ace threw 64 of 95 pitches for strikes and generated 12 whiffs, completing at least seven innings for the third straight start. On the season, he sports a 2.16 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and an outstanding 105:7 K:BB across 83.1 innings. He'll look to keep rolling in a road matchup with the Orioles next week.

Tigers' Tarik Skubal: Next start likely to come Friday
Tigers manager A.J. Hinch suggested that Skubal is likely to get an extra day of rest ahead of his next start, which is expected to come Friday against the Cubs in Detroit, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Skubal had been lined up to start Thursday's series finale versus the White Sox, but he's started on four days' rest in just three of his first 12 outings, and at this stage of the season, the Tigers want to be cognizant about not overworking their staff ace when they don't have to. By pushing Skubal back a day, the Tigers will also be able to shield one of their bottom-of-rotation arms from a fearsome Cubs offense that has produced a 120 wRC+ on the season, good for third in the majors. Though Skubal will be missing out on a favorable matchup with the 18-40 White Sox, fantasy managers will still want to keep him in lineups this week, as the reigning American League Cy Young Award winner has been dominant even against formidable competition this season.

Tigers' Tarik Skubal: Punches out seven in no-decision
Skubal allowed two hits and no walks while striking out seven in seven scoreless innings against the Royals on Saturday. He did not factor into the decision.
Skubal had all the momentum behind him heading into Saturday's game after firing a complete-game shutout against the Guardians last Sunday. He was locked into a fierce duel with Michael Wacha, with both pitchers tossing seven scoreless innings. Skubal needed just 90 pitches (63 strikes) and generated 14 whiffs while limiting the Royals to two baserunners. He has recorded at least seven strikeouts in each of his last seven outings, and his 99 punchouts (across 75.2 innings) is second most in the majors behind MacKenzie Gore (101). Skubal is lined up to face the White Sox on the road next week.

Tigers' Tarik Skubal: Fires complete-game shutout
Skubal (5-2) pitched a complete-game shutout Sunday against the Guardians, striking out 13 and allowing two hits and no walks across nine innings.

Skubal showed no signs of slowing down either, as he hit 102.6 mph on his final pitch of the game to punch out Gabriel Arias. It's the first complete-game shutout of his career and is his fourth scoreless outing of 2025. He now has a 2.49 ERA, 0.84 WHIP and 92:7 K:BB across 68.2 innings this season as he continues to build his case as arguably the top pitcher in MLB.

Tigers' Tarik Skubal: Falls short of quality start
Skubal allowed three runs on five hits and a walk while striking out eight in 5.2 innings Tuesday against the Cardinals. He did not factor into the decision.
Skubal blanked the Cardinals through four innings while allowing just a single. Nolan Arenado took him deep in the fifth for a two-run homer and Skubal's day would end one out short of a quality start after another run came across in the sixth to make it a 4-3 ballgame. With eight more strikeouts Tuesday, Skubal leads the American League with 79 and his 1.06 BB/9 is the second best in baseball. He's set to take the mound again to open up next week at home versus San Francisco.

Tigers' Tarik Skubal: Fans 11, but yields five runs
Skubal allowed five runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out 11 over 6.1 innings, but he did not factor into the decision in Wednesday's 6-5 win over the Red Sox.
Skubal limited the Red Sox to two runs through the first six innings and looked to be on his way to earning his sixth quality start of the season. He was brought back for the seventh frame, but he was lifted after allowing three consecutive baserunners and was tagged for three more runs. Skubal still managed generate 21 whiffs on 95 pitches (67 strikes) and tallied double-digit strikeouts for the third time in his last four outings. The 28-year-old southpaw is in line to face the Cardinals on the road next week.

Skubal leads the American League with 60 strikeouts and ranks second and seventh among qualified starters in the league in WHIP (0.88) and ERA (2.08), respectively. He's lined up to face the Red Sox at home next week.

Tigers' Tarik Skubal: Settles for no-decision Friday
Skubal allowed one run on four hits over six innings but did not factor into the decision in Friday's 9-1 win over the Angels. He struck out eight without walking a batter.
Skubal pitched well, but Detroit didn't score until a single run came across in the seventh inning followed by eight more in the ninth. The lefty ace has been dominant once again in 2025, posting a stellar 2.21 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 10.6 K/9 across seven starts. The ERA would actually be a new career best for Skubal, as it's slightly below the 2.39 figure he posted during his 2024 AL Cy Young campaign. He'll look to keep rolling in his next outing, which is penciled in for Thursday against the Rockies at Coors Field.
