  • Bengals' Chase Brown: Officially inactive Saturday

Brown (ankle) is inactive for Saturday's game at Pittsburgh. Brown suffered a right ankle sprain near the end of regulation of last Saturday's overtime win versus the Broncos. Despite the running back not practicing during Week 18 prep, there was some hope that he'd be available this Saturday, as offensive coordinator Dan Pitcher noted to Ben Baby of ESPN.com on Monday. Officially listed as questionable, Brown's availability was subject to a game-day decision, per Kelsey Conway of The Cincinnati Enquirer via coach Zac Taylor. During his pregame warmup, Brown's right ankle was heavily taped, per Bridget Condon of NFL Network, but his attempts to cut on the ankle seemingly didn't go well, according to Condon. With his lack of availability now confirmed for Saturday's contest, Brown will hand off the Bengals backfield to Khalil Herbert, who will be backed up by Trayveon Williams and Kendall Milton.

  • Bengals' Chase Brown: Trending toward absence Saturday

Brown (ankle) isn't expected to play Saturday at Pittsburgh, Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports reports. Brown emerged from last Saturday's overtime victory against the Broncos with a sprained right ankle, which didn't allow him to practice during Week 18 prep. Still, the Bengals gave him a chance to suit up this weekend by listing him as questionable on their final injury report Thursday. In the end, Brown went through a pregame workout that may not have gone well when he attempted to cut, per Bridget Condon of NFL Network. Cincinnati will confirm Brown's status once the team posts its inactive list about 90 minutes before an 8:00 p.m. ET kickoff, but it appears as if Khalil Herbert will be the Bengals' lead running back Saturday.

  • Bengals' Chase Brown: Gets questionable tag for Saturday

Brown (ankle) is listed as questionable for Saturday's game against the Steelers. After suffering what's believed to be a mild right high-ankle sprain in last Saturday's 30-24 overtime win over the Broncos, Brown was listed as a non-participant for each of the Bengals' three practices in Week 18. Despite the lack of on-field activity this week, the Bengals aren't closing the door on him being available in a critical game in Saturday, as Cincinnati will need a win plus Broncos and Dolphins losses Sunday to punch their ticket to the postseason. Per Kelsey Conway of The Cincinnati Enquirer, head coach Zac Taylor suggested earlier Thursday that Brown is shaping up as a game-day decision for Saturday, with official word on the running back's status set to arrive when the Bengals release their inactive list 90 minutes prior to the team's 8 p.m. ET kickoff. If Brown can't play Saturday or is available only in a limited capacity, Khalil Herbert would likely be in store for a big role out of the backfield.

  • Bengals' Chase Brown: Not practicing Thursday

Brown (ankle) was spotted working out with trainers off to the side during Thursday's practice, Ben Baby of ESPN.com reports. Brown hasn't logged any practice activity this week, and he appears to be trending toward being listed as a non-participant on Thursday's injury report. Once practice concludes, the Bengals will reveal whether Brown carries a designation into Saturday's game against the Steelers. If Brown ultimately can't play Saturday, the Bengals would turn to Khalil Herbert to lead their backfield.

  • Bengals' Chase Brown: Sits out walk-through practice

Brown (ankle) didn't participate Tuesday in the Bengals' walk-through practice, Jay Morrison of SI.com reports. Brown is tending to what's believed to be a mild right high-ankle sprain, which he suffered late in this past Saturday's 30-24 overtime win over the Broncos. Bengals offensive coordinator Dan Pitcher said Monday that he's hoping Brown will be ready to play in Saturday's regular-season finale in Pittsburgh. If Brown is forced to sit out the Week 18 contest, Khalil Herbert would likely serve as the Bengals' top option out of the backfield.

  • Bengals' Chase Brown: Could play in Week 18

Brown, who is dealing with a right ankle sprain, has a chance to play next weekend against the Steelers, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Brown was hurt during Saturday's 30-24 overtime win over the Broncos, but according to Rapoport, the running back's ankle injury is not considered major. Added context regarding Brown's Week 18 status will arrive once the Bengals resume practice, but in the event that he's limited or out versus Pittsburgh, Khalil Herbert would be next in line for work in Cincinnati's backfield.

  • Bengals' Chase Brown: Dealing with sprained ankle

Bengals head coach Zac Taylor said following Saturday's 30-24 overtime win over Denver that Brown is dealing with a right ankle sprain, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. Brown's injury occurred late in the fourth quarter as he slid near the Broncos' goal line in an attempt to avoid the end zone in order to run time off the clock. Cincinnati was able to pull out the must-win game in OT, but Brown was ruled out before the final points were scored. When asked about Brown's injury after the game, Taylor stated, "I just know it's an ankle sprain, we'll see from there," per Pelissero. The Bengals remain alive in the playoff race, but it's unclear if they'll have their No. 1 running back for next weekend's regular-season finale versus Pittsburgh.

  • Bengals' Chase Brown: Ruled out of Saturday's game

Brown won't return to Saturday's game against the Broncos due to a right ankle injury. Brown had his right leg bent under him as he slid just before the goal line inside of the two-minute warning in the fourth quarter. He got to his feet but took only a few steps before falling back to the turf. After a few minutes, Brown made his way to the sideline but had a clear limp as he moved about before being ruled out. Khalil Herbert will man the backfield for the Bengals for the rest of overtime.

  • Bengals' Chase Brown: Over 100 total yards in win

Brown rushed 18 times for 91 yards and brought in all three targets for 18 yards in the Bengals' 24-6 win over the Browns on Sunday. Brown was the only Bengals running back to log a carry and was typically efficient while also carrying out a modest role in the passing game. The standout second-year pro has at least 70 rushing yards in four of the last five games and multiple receptions in all but one contest, affording him a very safe fantasy floor heading into a Week 17 home matchup against the Broncos on Saturday afternoon.

  • Bengals' Chase Brown: Solid game on limited touches

Brown rushed the ball 12 times for 70 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 44-38 loss to the Steelers. He added three receptions on three targets for 30 yards. Brown looked to be in for a huge game as he accounted for 54 rushing yards and a score on the Bengals' second offensive possession. However, Cincinnati found itself chasing the lead for much of the second half, which led to Brown getting only four carries in the final two quarters. Nevertheless, he remains the clear lead back and has now found the end zone or topped 100 yards from scrimmage in five consecutive matchups.

  • Bengals' Chase Brown: Contrarian DFS Play

Bucky Irving should be the chalk of the slate in a similar price range as Brown with an easier matchup. What Brown has is a workhorse role. He has at least 22 touches in three straight games. In that stretch he scored 19.3 PPR Fantasy points against the Chargers and 24.4 against the Ravens. Those are both more difficult matchups than Pittsburgh.

  • Bengals' Chase Brown: Goes for 143 yards on 27 touches

Brown carried the ball 22 times for 86 yards while catching five of seven targets for 57 yards in Sunday's 34-27 loss to the Chargers. Brown continues to be the bell cow for Cincinnati's backfield, surrendering no carries to fellow running backs while producing 143 yards on 27 total touches. The sophomore out of Illinois failed to extend a modest three-game touchdown streak, but it's hard to scoff at this kind of production from a player that was likely snagged off the wire early in the fantasy season. Brown will enter Cincinnati's bye week with 957 yards from scrimmage and seven total touchdowns in as many games played (12) as his rookie season.

  • Bengals' Chase Brown: RBs to Start

Brown doesn't have an easy matchup in Week 11 at the Chargers, who are No. 3 in fewest Fantasy points allowed to opposing running backs, but I don't care. You're starting Brown in all leagues based on what he's done the past two games. He scored at least 22.4 PPR points in each of his past two outings against the Raiders and Ravens, and I love that he has 14 catches for 89 yards and a touchdown over that span on 16 targets. Brown has top-10 upside in Week 11.

  • Bengals' Chase Brown: RBs to Start

Brown came through in a big way in Week 9 as the Start of the Week when he had a season-best 26.7 PPR points against the Raiders. He had 27 carries for 120 yards, five catches for 37 yards, and a touchdown on five targets. I hope he maintains his role in the passing game even with the Bengals adding Khalil Herbert via trade from the Bears on Tuesday and Zack Moss (neck) is now on injured reserve. Brown faced the Ravens in Week 5 and had 12 carries for 46 yards, three catches for 8 yards, and a touchdown on three targets. It's a tough matchup since Baltimore is No. 8 in fewest Fantasy points allowed to opposing running backs, but three running backs have scored at least 14.4 PPR points against the Ravens in the past five games. I'm trusting Brown as a No. 2 running back in all leagues.

  • Bengals' Chase Brown: Gets new backfield complement

Brown will have a new backup for Week 10 after Cincinnati acquired Khalil Herbert from Chicago on Tuesday, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports. Through the Bengals' first eight games of the season, Brown had been working in a timeshare with Zack Moss. Brown dominated the backfield in a Week 9 win over the Raiders after Moss was ruled out for the contest due to a neck injury, playing 79 percent of the snaps and amassing a career-high 120 yards on the ground while taking on all of the running-back usage (27 carries, five receptions). Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reported Tuesday that Moss is slated to miss at least the rest of the regular season, but the addition of Herbert -- who has averaged 4.8 yards per carry over 48 career games -- provides more formidable competition for supplementary work behind Brown than Trayveon Williams or Kendall Milton. With Herbert in the fold, Brown shouldn't be expected to handle 100 percent of the backfield usage as he did in Week 9, but the second-year back should still see a sizable three-down role.

  • Bengals' Chase Brown: Bruised rib in win over Las Vegas

Coach Zac Taylor said Monday that Brown suffered a bruised rib in Sunday's win over the Raiders, Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network reports. Brown briefly exited Sunday's win but quickly returned and went on to set career highs in carries (27), rushing yards (120) and receptions (five), totaling 157 yards and one touchdown on his 32 touches. Meanwhile, Trayveon Williams didn't handle a single carry or target as the backup. With Zack Moss (neck) now out indefinitely, according to Taylor via Adam Schefter of ESPN, Brown looks like a locked-in every-down back moving forward, assuming his rib injury isn't serious. The Bengals have a quick Week 10 turnaround with a road game against the division-rival Ravens on tap for Thursday night.

  • Bengals' Chase Brown: Three-down role likely awaits

Brown is expected to take on the majority of the snaps out of the Cincinnati backfield in Sunday's game against the Raiders with Zack Moss (neck) inactive for the contest, Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic reports. Brown had already played 48 percent of the snaps or more in each of the last three games while outproducing Moss and seemingly emerging as Option 1A in Cincinnati's backfield timeshare, but the absence of Moss for Week 9 should pave the way for Brown to see his most significant playing time to date. Cincinnati's other active running backs include special-teams standout Trayveon Williams and practice-squad call-up Kendall Milton, neither of whom have logged a snap on offense in 2024. Expect the backups to be sprinkled in lightly while Brown likely handles a three-down role, at least for as long as Sunday's contest stays competitive.

  • Bengals' Chase Brown: Added touches likely with Moss hurt

Brown is likely to see the lion's share of touches in the Bengals backfield Sunday against the Raiders, as Ben Baby of ESPN.com reports that Zack Moss (neck) is listed as doubtful for that contest. Brown stands to benefit from Moss's surprise addition to the injury report Friday. While Moss has been on hand to split backfield duties, Brown has played more than half of Cincinnati's offensive snaps only twice this season, and Brown was on the field for 48 percent of snaps Week 8 against the Eagles compared to Moss's 52 percent. If the Bengals continue to distrust Brown's pass protection, that could create an opportunity for Trayveon Williams to play a meaningful role against the Raiders as well.

  • Bengals' Chase Brown: Should play Sunday night

Brown (quadricep), who is listed as questionable for Sunday's contest against the Giants, is expected to play, Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports reports. Head coach Zac Taylor said as much when he touched on Brown's status following Friday's practice, but fantasy managers should have some extra assurance about the running back being cleared to play ahead of Sunday's 8:20 p.m. ET kickoff. Expect Brown and Zack Moss to continue operating in a tandem out of the backfield that has proven beneficial for both players, who have three touchdowns apiece on the season.

  • Bengals' Chase Brown: RBs to Start

I like Brown as a No. 2 running back this week against the Giants even though Zack Moss will play despite an ankle injury. And Moss can be considered a flex this week as well. We're starting to see the upside of Brown the past two games against the Panthers and Ravens when he's had at least 15 total touches in each outing, and he scored at least 16.4 PPR points both times. This isn't an easy matchup against the Giants, but three running backs have already scored at least 13.1 PPR points against them this season. I'm hopeful that Brown gets the lead role against the Giants, and it would be great if he could take over the Cincinnati backfield for good.
