  • Hockey Club's Olli Maatta: Snags helper in win

Maatta posted an assist in Saturday's 5-3 win over the Stars. Maatta set up a Logan Cooley tally in the second period, the only one of Utah's five goals that came at even strength. This was Maatta's second helper in the last four contests. The 30-year-old blueliner is up to 17 points over 75 outings between Utah and Detroit in 2024-25, one off the point total he had in 72 games with the Red Wings a year ago. He's added 71 shots on net, 123 blocked shots and a plus-7 rating this season.

  • Hockey Club's Olli Maatta: First point since return

Maatta notched an assist, two blocked shots and two PIM in Saturday's 4-1 win over the Jets. This was Maatta's second game back after missing two due to a lower-body injury. The 30-year-old blueliner ended a 10-game point drought with the secondary assist on Nick Bjugstad's empty-netter. Maatta is up to 16 points, 66 shots on net, 121 blocked shots and a plus-5 rating over 72 appearances between Utah and Detroit, and he's been a valuable bottom-four blueliner in his time with Utah.

  • Hockey Club's Olli Maatta: Ready to play Thursday

Maatta (lower body) will be in the lineup against the Kings on Thursday, Belle Fraser of The Salt Lake Tribune reports. Maatta is currently mired in a 19-game goal drought in addition to a nine-game pointless streak going back to March 10 versus Toronto. Despite the recent slump, the 30-year-old defenseman could still reach the 20-point threshold after missing that mark last year. With Maatta back in action, Nick DeSimone figures to be relegated to the press box as a healthy scratch.

  • Hockey Club's Olli Maatta: Not available Tuesday

Maatta (lower body) will not play Tuesday, Brogan Houston of Deseret News reports. Maatta was labeled a game-time decision by head coach Andre Tourigny earlier in the day. This will be Maatta's second straight absence, but it doesn't appear to be an overly serious injury he's dealing with. Nick DeSimone continues to fill in on the third pairing in place of Maatta, who will try to be ready for Thursday's game against the Kings.

  • Hockey Club's Olli Maatta: Game-time call Tuesday

Maatta (lower body) will be a game-time decision for Tuesday's home meeting with the Flames, according to Belle Fraser of The Salt Lake Tribune. Nick DeSimone will remain in the lineup if Maatta is unavailable against Calgary. Maatta has accounted for two goals, 15 points, 14 PIM, 61 shots on goal, 112 blocked shots and a plus-4 rating over 63 appearances this season.

Maatta (lower body) won't play against Chicago on Sunday. Maatta will miss at least one game after being injured in Friday's 2-1 overtime loss to Florida. He has accounted for two goals, 15 points, 61 shots on net and 112 blocked shots in 63 appearances this season. Nick DeSimone will replace Maatta in Sunday's lineup.

  • Hockey Club's Olli Maatta: Game-time call Sunday

Maatta (lower body) will be a game-time decision against Chicago on Sunday, according to Utah radio broadcaster Mike Folta. Maatta sustained an injury in Friday's 2-1 overtime loss to Florida. He has generated two goals, 15 points, 61 shots on net and 112 blocked shots in 63 appearances this season. If Maatta can't play versus the Blackhawks, Nick DeSimone could draw back into Sunday's lineup after being a healthy scratch for the last 17 games.

  • Hockey Club's Olli Maatta: Sustains lower-body injury

Maatta (lower body) won't return to Friday's game versus the Panthers. Maatta was injured in the second period and ruled out during the second intermission. It's unclear at this time if he'll miss more time beyond the end of Friday's game. If he can't suit up Sunday in Chicago, Nick DeSimone will likely take his place in the lineup.

  • Hockey Club's Olli Maatta: Agrees to three-year extension

Maatta signed a three-year, $10.5 million contract extension with Utah on Monday. Maatta has two goals, 14 points, 55 shots on net, 108 blocked shots and 17 hits in 58 games between Utah and Detroit this season. The 30-year-old defender chose to stay with Utah through the 2027-28 campaign rather than test the market as an unrestricted free agent in the summer.

  • Hockey Club's Olli Maatta: Manages assist Tuesday

Maatta provided an assist in Tuesday's 2-1 win over the Blackhawks. Maatta helped out on Lawson Crouse's game-winning goal in the third period. The helper was Maatta's second point in the last 10 games. The 30-year-old is now in a third-pairing role after filling in as a top-four option for much of the season when Utah had more injuries on its blue line. Maatta is at 13 points, 52 shots on net, 108 blocked shots and a plus-7 rating through 56 appearances between Utah and Detroit in 2024-25.

  • Hockey Club's Olli Maatta: Credited with goal

Maatta scored a goal and blocked two shots in Thursday's 3-2 overtime win over the Blue Jackets. Maatta put a puck toward the net and it took a deflection in for his second goal of the campaign. The 30-year-old blueliner has earned four points across his last nine outings, though his role has shrunk a bit with Utah's blue line at its healthiest since early in the season. The Finn has 12 points, 49 shots on net, 102 blocked shots and a plus-6 rating over 51 appearances between Utah and Detroit this season.

Maatta scored a goal on two shots and blocked two shots in Monday's 5-2 win over the Jets. Maatta broke a scoreless deadlock at 16:00 of the second period when his screened shot got through cleanly to surprise Connor Hellebuyck. The goal was Maatta's first of the season, and he's added three assists over nine outings in January. Overall, the 30-year-old blueliner has nine points, 40 shots on net, 88 blocked shots, 12 PIM and a plus-7 rating through 43 appearances between Utah and Detroit.

  • Hockey Club's Olli Maatta: Registers assist Friday

Maatta logged an assist, two shots on goal and two blocked shots in Friday's 2-1 win over the Sharks. Maatta has three helpers over his last four games, with his January point total already equal to what he did in December. The 30-year-old defenseman is at eight helpers, 33 shots on net, 78 blocked shots and a plus-7 rating over 38 appearances between Utah and Detroit this season. Maatta continues to play significant minutes for Utah as a shutdown blueliner, and that extra ice time has helped him get involved on offense occasionally.

  • Hockey Club's Olli Maatta: Puts up assist Sunday

Maatta logged an assist and three blocked shots in Sunday's 5-4 shootout loss to the Ducks. Maatta had gone four games without a point, though he has five assists over his last 11 outings. The 30-year-old should continue to get some looks on offense by virtue of playing on the first defensive pairing at even strength, alongside a more dynamic blueliner in Mikhail Sergachev. Maatta is at five helpers, 23 shots on net, 60 blocked shots and a plus-8 rating over 30 appearances between Utah and Detroit this season.

  • Hockey Club's Olli Maatta: Bags apple in shootout loss

Maatta notched an assist, four shots on goal and two blocked shots in Tuesday's 5-4 shootout loss to the Wild. Maatta continues to get more involved on offense -- this was his fourth assist over the last six games. He's been playing on the top pairing during this improved stretch of offense, and his minutes will likely remain high after Robert Bortuzzo (lower body) exited Tuesday's game and is likely to miss time. Maatta has four assists, 17 shots on net, 49 blocked shots and a plus-7 rating over 25 contests between Utah and Detroit this year.

  • Hockey Club's Olli Maatta: Earns assist in win

Maatta notched an assist, two shots on goal, three blocked shots and a plus-2 rating in Saturday's 5-2 win over the Sabres. Maatta led the team with 23:18 of ice time in the contest. He has three helpers over his last four games, and while that scoring pace is unlikely to last, his value to Utah's battered defense has been immense. For the season, the Finnish blueliner has three helpers, 12 shots on net, 44 blocked shots and a plus-7 rating over 23 appearances between Utah and Detroit.

  • Hockey Club's Olli Maatta: Helpers in consecutive contests

Maatta notched an assist, six blocked shots and a plus-2 rating in Saturday's 6-0 win over the Golden Knights. Maatta went from no points this season to earning a helper in consecutive contests. The 30-year-old defenseman is taking on heavy minutes for a Utah blue line decimated by injuries. Maatta has racked up 29 blocked shots and a plus-4 rating over 14 contests since being acquired by Utah from Detroit. He's not an impact player in fantasy since he rarely scores, but he's a key on-ice defensive presence.

  • Hockey Club's Olli Maatta: Gets first point of campaign

Maatta notched an assist, four blocked shots and two PIM in Friday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Oilers. Maatta hadn't recorded a point over his 19 appearances between the Red Wings and Utah this season. He broke through with a helper on Lawson Crouse's third-period tally. Maatta had added just eight shots on net, eight hits, 30 blocked shots, six PIM and a plus-2 rating. He's a purely defensive part of Utah's top pairing right now, playing a shutdown role alongside the more offensively-gifted Mikhail Sergachev.

  • Hockey Club's Olli Maatta: Heading west in trade

Maatta was traded from Detroit to Utah on Tuesday in exchange for a third-round pick in 2025, which originally belonged to the Rangers. This is a classic hockey trade -- the Red Wings were carrying eight blueliners on the active roster. This trade frees up $3 million in cap space for Detroit, while Utah replenishes its injury-ravaged defense corps with a steady veteran capable of taking on bottom-four minutes. Maatta hasn't recorded a point over seven games this season, but he's blocked seven shots while adding three shots on goal and three hits. It's unclear if Maatta will be available for Wednesday's game against the Flames, but he should be ready to join Utah for a four-game road trip that begins in Vegas on Saturday.

  • Red Wings' Olli Maatta: Caps off productive campaign

Maatta posted four goals, 14 assists, 96 blocked shots and a team-leading plus-14 rating through 72 games this season. Maatta didn't post the type of stat that would enthrall the masses in fantasy hockey but was efficient for a retooled Red Wings blue line that desperately needed more cohesion and consistency. The 2024-25 campaign will be a contract year for Maatta before potentially being able to hit the open market as an unrestricted free agent.
