Pickard stopped 26 of 28 shots in Saturday's 3-0 loss to the Kings, with Los Angeles' final goal getting scored into an empty net. After a scoreless first period, the Kings' offense got rolling in the second, but the Oilers' skaters weren't able to solve Darcy Kuemper in the other crease. Pickard has allowed exactly two goals in four straight starts as Edmonton's No. 1 netminder in the absence of Stuart Skinner (head), going 3-1-0 over that stretch with a .925 save percentage.... Oilers' Calvin Pickard: Guarding cage against Kings
Pickard will tend the twine on the road versus Los Angeles on Saturday, Tony Brar of Oilers TV reports. Pickard will be making his sixth straight appearance between the crease, having won three straight in which he is sporting a 1.99 GAA. As long as Stuart Skinner is sidelined, the Oilers have little choice but to roll with Pickard in the crease. Fortunately for the club, it doesn't have any back-to-backs on the short-term schedule.... See More ... See Less -
Oilers' Calvin Pickard: Secures first 20-win season
Pickard stopped 27 of 29 shots in Thursday's 3-2 win over the Sharks. The Oilers never had much breathing room in the contest, but Pickard's perfect third period helped them get the win. The 32-year-old reached the 20-win mark for the first time in his career, in part helped by Stuart Skinner's (head) recent absence. Pickard has allowed just six goals during his three-game winning streak and is now 20-8-1 with a 2.66 GAA and a .901 save percentage over 32 outings this season. He'll likely start again Saturday in a tough road matchup versus the Kings. It's a game that could have big implications on which of the two teams has home-ice advantage -- they're on a collision course to meet for the fourth straight postseason.... See More ... See Less -
Oilers' Calvin Pickard: Holds on for win
Pickard stopped 20 of 22 shots in Tuesday's 3-2 win over the Golden Knights. Pickard has won four of his last seven outings, going 4-1-1 in that span. He's allowed more than two goals just once in that stretch. The Golden Knights didn't have a lot of shot volume but put on a fair amount of pressure while chasing the game in the third period, but Pickard held firm. He's up to 19-8-1 with a 2.69 GAA and an .899 save percentage over 31 outings. Stuart Skinner (head) remains out, allowing Pickard to operate as the No. 1 netminder. He'll likely have a chance to go for his 20th win of the season when the Oilers visit the Sharks on Thursday.... See More ... See Less -
Oilers' Calvin Pickard: Set to start in Vegas
Pickard will be between the road pipes against the Golden Knights on Tuesday, Oilers play-by-play announcer Jack Michaels reports. Pickard will make his fourth straight start due to Stuart Skinner's head injury. The 32-year-old Pickard is 18-8-1 with a 2.71 GAA and an .899 save percentage through 30 appearances in 2024-25. It will be a tough matchup Tuesday for the veteran netminder -- Vegas has won six straight games while potting 28 goals during that stretch. Pickard has never faced the Golden Knights in his career.... See More ... See Less -
Oilers' Calvin Pickard: Guarding goal Saturday
Pickard will defend the home goal versus Calgary on Saturday, according to Tony Brar of Oilers TV. Pickard is currently the No. 1 goaltender in Edmonton as Stuart Skinner is out of action with a head injury. Pickard struggled Thursday, allowing five goals on 29 shots in a 6-1 loss to Seattle. Overall, the 32-year-old netminder is 17-8-1 with a 2.75 GAA and an .898 save percentage over 29 appearances this season. Calgary has posted 2.61 goals per game in 2024-25, 31st in the NHL.... Oilers' Calvin Pickard: Unravels in second period
Pickard gave up five goals on 29 shots in Thursday's 6-1 loss to the Kraken. Pickard kept the game scoreless through one period, but the Kraken hung five on the board against him in the second. He gave way for the final frame, with Olivier Rodrigue checking in for his NHL debut in the blowout loss. Pickard will need to be a lot better going forward, as it's unclear how much time Stuart Skinner (head) might miss following his exit from Wednesday's contest versus the Stars. Pickard is now 17-8-1 with a 2.75 GAA and an .898 save percentage over 29 appearances this season. The Oilers host the Flames on Saturday.... See More ... See Less -
Oilers' Calvin Pickard: Expected to face Seattle
Pickard is slated to start on the road against Seattle on Thursday. Pickard has a 2-0-1 record, 1.28 GAA and .952 save percentage across his past four appearances. He's 17-7-1 with a 2.61 GAA and a .901 save percentage in 28 outings overall. Seattle is in a three-way tie for 14th in goals per game with 2.99.... See More ... See Less -
Oilers' Calvin Pickard: Fills in for injured Stuart Skinner
Pickard stopped all three shots he faced in relief of Stuart Skinner (head) in Wednesday's 4-3 loss to the Stars. Skinner left in the third period after a collision with Mikko Rantanen. Pickard did his part to give the Oilers a chance at an improbable comeback, which fell one goal short of forcing overtime. Skinner won't travel to Seattle for Thursday's game, Tony Brar of Oilers TV reports, so expect Pickard to get the starting nod for that game, while Collin Delia or Olivier Rodrigue are due to be called up to fill the backup role. Pickard would likely handle the bulk of the goaltending duties as long as Skinner is out. Through 28 appearances this season, Pickard is 17-7-1 with a 2.61 GAA and a .901 save percentage.... Oilers' Calvin Pickard: Takes overtime loss in relief
Pickard stopped three of four shots in Thursday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Jets. Pickard relieved Stuart Skinner (concussion) when the latter was removed from the game following a collision in the third period. The 32-year-old Pickard then gave up the decisive goal to Kyle Connor in overtime. Pickard is down to 17-7-1 with a 2.63 GAA and a .901 save percentage over 27 appearances this season. If Skinner misses time, Pickard will take over as the Oilers' top goalie during Skinner's absence. The Oilers host the Kraken on Saturday.... See More ... See Less -
Oilers' Calvin Pickard: Sharp in big win
Pickard stopped 29 of 30 shots in Tuesday's 7-1 win over Utah. The Oilers took a 3-0 lead in the first period, and that was more than enough for Pickard to work with. Sean Durzi's tally in the second period denied Pickard a shutout, but he still collected his third win in four outings in March. In all of those victories, he's allowed just one goal. The 32-year-old is up to 17-7-0 with a 2.60 GAA and a .902 save percentage over 26 outings this season. Pickard already has a career high in wins and could challenge the 20-win mark if he gets enough action over the final month of the campaign. The Oilers will likely turn back to Stuart Skinner for Thursday's home game versus the Jets.... See More ... See Less -
Oilers' Calvin Pickard: Excellent vs. Isles
Pickard stopped 24 of 25 shots in Friday's 2-1 overtime win over the Islanders. Pickard was making his first start since March 4 against Anaheim when he gave up four goals on 11 shots before being replaced after one period. He bounced back admirably in Friday's victory en route to one of his best performances of 2024-25. Pickard will continue backing up Stuart Skinner, but his fantasy upside going forward will be limited if Skinner sees the bulk of the playing time. Pickard is a decent streaming option, but the matchup will play a significant role in his fantasy appeal.... See More ... See Less -
Oilers' Calvin Pickard: Chased after one period
Pickard stopped seven of 11 shots in one period of Tuesday's 6-2 loss to the Ducks. Pickard held firm early in the contest, but he gave up four goals in a span of 6:41 to close out the first period. Stuart Skinner took over in goal for the final two frames. The loss still belonged to Pickard, his third in five outings dropping him to 15-7-0 with a 2.76 GAA and an .896 save percentage through 24 appearances this season. It'll likely be Skinner between the pipes for Thursday's game versus the Canadiens. Given Pickard's recent struggles, it's possible the Oilers will pursue a goalie at the trade deadline.... Oilers' Calvin Pickard: Slated to start Tuesday
Pickard is expected to guard the home crease versus the Ducks on Tuesday, Jason Gregor of Sports 1440 Edmonton reports. Pickard is coming off a solid 35-save victory over the Hurricanes on Saturday and will get the opportunity to make consecutive appearances for just the fourth time this year. It would likely take an extended run of form for the 32-year-old backstop to steal the starting job away from Stuart Skinner, but it's certainly not an impossible task.... See More ... See Less -
Oilers' Calvin Pickard: Strong outing in win
Pickard allowed just one goal while stopping 35 shots in Saturday's 3-1 road win over the Hurricanes. Pickard was perfect at even strength for the Oilers as the lone goal he allowed was to Sebastian Aho during a Carolina power play. With the win, the 32-year-old Pickard is up to a 15-6-0 record with a 2.61 GAA and a .901 save percentage. Saturday's win was Pickard's first since Feb. 5, when he had a five-game winning streak. The Oilers' backup goaltender has been one of the better relief options in net this season, allowing four goals or more only three times this season. Pickard is a strong streaming option in all fantasy formats when he is slated to start with Edmonton's stacked skating core in front of him.... See More ... See Less -
Oilers' Calvin Pickard: Scorched By Capitals
Pickard turned aside 27 of 33 shots faced during Sunday's 7-3 road loss to the Capitals. Pickard got staked to an early lead before the high-octane Capitals roared back in a duel of backup netminders. The 32-year-old will fall to 14-6-0 in 22 starts and has now dropped consecutive decisions after a five-game win streak during the month of January.... See More ... See Less -
Oilers' Calvin Pickard: In goal Sunday
Pickard will defend the road net versus Washington on Sunday, according to Tony Brar of Oilers TV. Pickard will get the second half of Edmonton's back-to-back after Stuart Skinner played in Saturday's 6-3 loss to Philadelphia. The 32-year-old Pickard has a 14-5-0 record with a 2.52 GAA and a .901 save percentage in 21 appearances this season. Washington sits first in the league with 3.64 goals per game in 2024-25 and posted an 8-3 win over Pittsburgh on Saturday.... See More ... See Less -
Oilers' Calvin Pickard: Loses in relief Friday
Pickard allowed two goals on 19 shots in relief of Stuart Skinner in Friday's 5-4 loss to the Avalanche. That's a tough way for a six-game winning streak to end. Pickard entered at the start of the second period with the Oilers down 3-2, and while he outplayed Skinner's poor performance, Pickard was responsible for Martin Necas' game-winning goal in the third. For the season, Pickard is now 14-5-0 with a 2.52 GAA and a .901 save percentage over 21 appearances. The Oilers' season resumes Feb. 22 in Philadelphia, followed by a visit to the Capitals on Feb. 23, so both Pickard and Skinner should start one game each just after the end of the 4 Nations Face-Off.... See More ... See Less -
Oilers' Calvin Pickard: Starting Wednesday
Pickard will guard the road goal Wednesday versus the Blackhawks. Pickard will get the second half of a back-to-back after Stuart Skinner took a 3-2 overtime win over the Blues on Tuesday. The 32-year-old Pickard has won his last five decisions over six games, allowing 12 goals on 128 shots (.906 save percentage) in that span. He'll have a favorable matchup in this contest and should be deployed in most fantasy formats.... See More ... See Less -
Oilers' Calvin Pickard: Earns win vs. Kraken
Pickard stopped 26 of 28 shots in Monday's 4-2 win over the Kraken. Pickard got the start Monday because Stuart Skinner wasn't available, as he's expecting the birth of his child shortly, and he delivered a solid showing between the pipes. The 32-year-old veteran has won each of his last four starts in January, posting a 2.51 GAA and a .909 save percentage in that stretch.... See More ... See Less
