Morant (hip) won't play in Saturday's Game 4 against the Thunder, Pete Pranica of FanDuel Sports Network Southeast reports. Morant has been downgraded from doubtful to out Saturday due to a hip contusion. Desmond Bane will likely be relied upon heavily for offensive production on the perimeter in his absence. The Grizzlies will have to win Game 4 in order to give Morant another chance to suit up for Game 5 on Monday.... See More ... See Less

Grizzlies' Ja Morant: Officially doubtful for Game 4
Morant is listed as doubtful for Saturday for Game 4 of the Grizzlies' first-round playoff series versus the Thunder due to a hip contusion. Earlier Friday, Shams Charania of ESPN relayed that Morant was in line to sit out Game 4, but the Grizzlies aren't officially closing the door on the star point guard suiting up, even though he looks to be trending toward an absence. Scotty Pippen has joined Morant in the starting five since the start of the Play-In Tournament and would likely see more time on the ball in the event Morant can't play. Luke Kennard (Achilles) -- who is listed as questionable -- along with John Konchar and Vince Williams could be the main players who benefit from added minutes if Morant is sidelined.... See More ... Grizzlies' Ja Morant: Won't suit up Saturday
Morant (hip) has been ruled out for Saturday's Game 4 against the Thunder, Shams Charania of ESPN reports. Morant sustained a left hip injury on a hard fall in the second quarter of Thursday's Game 3 loss to Oklahoma City, and he'll miss Saturday's win-or-go-home matchup. Scotty Pippen and Luke Kennard will likely see an uptick in playing time due to Morant being sidelined. If the Grizzlies win, Morant's next opportunity to play will come in Game 5 on Monday.... Grizzlies' Ja Morant: Won't return in Game 3
Morant (hip) won't return during Thursday's Game 3 against the Thunder. Morant sustained an apparent left hip injury on a hard fall in the second quarter and will likely require further testing ahead of Saturday's Game 4. The superstar point guard will finish Game 3 with 15 points (6-11 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 2-4 FT), five assists and a rebound across 16 minutes. Luke Kennard and Scotty Pippen will likely receive a bump in minutes the rest of the way due to Morant being sidelined.... See More ... See Less -
Grizzlies' Ja Morant: Exits to locker room Thursday
Morant exited to the locker room after sustaining an apparent left hip injury in the second quarter of Thursday's Game 3 against the Thunder, Chris Herrington of The Daily Memphian reports. Morant was undercut by an opposing player on a dunk attempt at the 3:15 mark of the second quarter and stayed down for an extended period. On the bright side, the superstar point guard was able to shoot his free throws before heading back to the locker room. If Morant is unable to return, Scotty Pippen and Luke Kennard are candidates for a bump in minutes.... See More ... See Less -
Grizzlies' Ja Morant: Chips in 23 points in Game 2 loss
Morant tallied 23 points (10-25 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 1-2 FT), six assists, two rebounds, two steals and one block over 40 minutes in Tuesday's 118-99 loss to Oklahoma City in Game 2 of the first round of the Western Conference playoffs. Morant played a game-high 40 minutes Tuesday as the Grizzlies managed to avoid a second straight blowout. He led Memphis in assists and finished as the team's second-leading scorer behind Jaren Jackson (26). With Memphis down 2-0, Morant will look to make a bigger impact as the series heads to Memphis on Thursday.... See More ... See Less -
Grizzlies' Ja Morant: Leads starters in scoring blowout
Morant notched 17 points (6-17 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 4-5 FT), three rebounds, four assists and one block across 26 minutes during Sunday's 131-80 loss to the Thunder in Game 1 of the first round of the Western Conference playoffs. Morant did all he could to help lead Memphis back into Sunday's postseason contest, posting team-high-tying marks in scoring and assists in just over 25 minutes in a blowout defeat. With Morant getting somewhat of a lower minute total in Game 1, look for him to make a big impact in Game 2, considering the urgency for Memphis following the embarrassing loss and the fact he didn't have to log a full workload Sunday.... Grizzlies' Ja Morant: Solid performance despite injury
Morant racked up 22 points (7-24 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 7-7 FT), seven rebounds, nine assists and three steals across 33 minutes during Friday's 120-106 Play-In Game win over Dallas. Morant played through an ankle injury suffered in Tuesday's loss to the Warriors, helping Memphis secure the eighth seed. Although it was an encouraging performance by Morant, he will be racing the clock to ensure he is fully healthy for Game 1 against the Thunder on Sunday. Memphis is up against it, facing the best team in the NBA for the right to advance to the second round of the playoffs.... See More ... See Less -
Grizzlies' Ja Morant: Green light to play Friday
Morant (ankle) is available for Friday's Play-In Game against the Mavericks, Shams Charania of ESPN reports. Morant drew the questionable tag after not participating in Thursday's practice due to a right ankle sprain. He was able to go through pre-game warmups without any setbacks and has been cleared to play in Friday's elimination game. Over Morant's last eight outings (including Wednesday's Play-In Game loss to Golden State), he has averaged 27.6 points on 48.3 percent shooting (including 37.7 percent from three on 7.6 3PA/G), 5.9 assists, 43.1 rebounds and 1.1 steals over 32.8 minutes per contest.... Grizzlies' Ja Morant: Officially questionable for Friday
Morant (ankle) is questionable for Friday's Play-In Game against the Mavericks. Morant didn't practice Thursday and is expected to be a game-time decision Friday due to a sprained right ankle. The star point guard sustained the ankle injury in the third quarter of Tuesday's Play-In Game loss to the Warriors, though he finished the game and posted 22 points (9-18 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 3-3 FT), three rebounds, three assists and one steal in 35 minutes. The 25-year-old is still dealing with swelling in his ankle, but he's optimistic about suiting up, per Tim MacMahon of ESPN.com. If Morant is sidelined against Dallas, Luke Kennard will likely see an uptick in playing time.... See More ... See Less -
Grizzlies' Ja Morant: Doesn't practice Thursday
Morant (ankle) will be a game-time decision for the Grizzlies' Play-In Game on Friday against the Mavericks, Drew Hill of The Daily Memphian reports. Morant rolled his right ankle in Tuesday's loss to the Warriors. Although he was able to return to the game, the superstar is in danger of missing Friday's win-or-go-home Play-In Game in Memphis. If the Murray State product is ruled out, the Grizzlies will likely turn to Scotty Pippen to shoulder the load at the point guard position.... See More ... See Less -
Grizzlies' Ja Morant: Toughs it out through ankle injury
Morant finished Tuesday's 121-116 Play-In Game loss to the Warriors with 22 points (9-18 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 3-3 FT), three rebounds, three assists and one steal in 35 minutes. Morant tweaked his right ankle with 4:23 remaining in the third quarter of Tuesday's contest but was able to return with 9:26 left in the fourth quarter and finish out the game. However, the star guard's ankle clearly still bothered him, and he mostly deferred to Desmond Bane down the stretch. It wouldn't be surprising for Morant to show up on Memphis' injury report for Friday's Play-In Game.... See More ... See Less -
Grizzlies' Ja Morant: Ready for Tuesday's Play-In Game
Morant (shoulder) is off the injury report for Tuesday's Play-In Game against the Warriors. After sitting out Sunday's regular-season finale against the Mavericks, Morant is all set to return to the lineup for Tuesday's pivotal matchup with Golden State. The star guard closed the regular season on quite a roll, having averaged 30.3 points, 7.0 assists, 4.3 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 2.7 three-pointers 33.4 minutes over his last 12 appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Grizzlies' Ja Morant: Won't play vs. Dallas
Morant (shoulder) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Mavericks. As expected, Morant and most of Memphis' regulars won't play in the regular-season finale after being downgraded from doubtful to out. The superstar point guard should be back in action during the Play-In Tournament, though the Grizzlies' opponent is to be determined.... See More ... See Less -
Grizzlies' Ja Morant: Doubtful to play Sunday
Morant is doubtful for Sunday's game against the Mavericks due to right shoulder soreness. Morant has been on fire in recent games with averages of 32.5 points, 5.8 assists and 3.5 rebounds per game since the beginning of April. The doubtful tag suggests the star floor general might not suit up, which makes sense considering the Grizzlies have already locked up a spot in the Play-In Tournament. If he ends up being ruled out, Cam Spencer, John Konchar and Vince Williams could see more time in the backcourt, as other players such as Desmond Bane (groin) and Scotty Pippen (back) are also carrying doubtful tags.... See More ... See Less -
Grizzlies' Ja Morant: Goes for 36 points in loss
Morant chipped in 36 points (13-27 FG, 5-13 3Pt, 5-7 FT), one rebound, six assists and one steal over 36 minutes during Thursday's 141-125 loss to Minnesota. Morant is ending the regular season on a sizzling note, and he's reached the 30-point mark in three of his last four appearances. The star floor general seems to have benefited from the head coaching change with an even bigger role on offense. Morant has averaged 32.5 points, 5.8 assists and 3.5 rebounds per game since the beginning of April while shooting 52.2 percent from the floor and 44.7 percent from three-point range.... See More ... Grizzlies' Ja Morant: Paces Memphis in win
Morant had 28 points (10-21 FG, 4-10 3Pt, 4-4 FT), eight assists, five rebounds and one block over 27 minutes during Tuesday's 124-100 victory over the Hornets. Morant led the Grizzlies with game-high marks in points and assists Tuesday. The star point guard has scored at least 20 points in each of his last 15 appearances, and he has racked up 34 such games over 48 regular-season matchups. Over his last five outings, Morant has averaged 28.4 points, 6.4 assists and 5.4 rebounds across 31.6 minutes per game.... See More ... See Less -
Grizzlies' Ja Morant: Off report for Tuesday
Morant (illness) isn't listed on the Grizzlies' injury report for Tuesday's game against the Hornets. Morant missed Saturday's win over the Pistons due to the illness, though he'll return to game action against Charlotte. The star point guard has averaged 31.6 points, 6.2 assists, 6.0 rebounds and 1.4 steals across 33.0 minutes per game over his last five outings.... See More ... See Less -
Grizzlies' Ja Morant: Not playing Saturday
Morant (illness) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against the Pistons. Morant fell ill at some point after scoring 30 points -- including the game-winning bucket -- in Thursday's 110-108 victory over Miami. He'll be sidelined for the middle game of the Grizzlies' three-game road trip but could be ready to return to action Thursday in Charlotte. His absence Saturday should allow Scotty Pippen and Luke Kennard to handle more minutes at point guard.... See More ... See Less -
Grizzlies' Ja Morant: Downgraded to questionable
Morant has been downgraded to questionable ahead of Saturday's game against the Pistons due to an illness. Morant was announced as a starter, but he was downgraded to questionable only a few minutes later due to an illness. If he ends up being ruled out, Scotty Pippen and Luke Kennard would be candidates to start over the star floor general.... See More ... See Less
