Panthers' Amare Barno: Lands on IR
The Panthers placed Barno (shoulder) on injured reserve Saturday, Mike Kaye of The Charlotte Observer reports.
Barno spent time on IR earlier in the season due to a knee injury and returned to action Dec. 1. However, he hurt his shoulder last Sunday against Tampa Bay, and the injury will keep him out of Carolina's Week 18 season finale. Barno will finish the campaign with seven tackles (four solo), including 1.0 sacks, over five games. He has one more season remaining on his rookie contract.

Panthers' Amare Barno: Out for Sunday
Barno (shoulder) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Falcons.
Barno likely sustained a shoulder injury in the Panthers' Week 17 loss to the Buccaneers, as he was held out of practice all week and has now been ruled out for Sunday's regular-season finale. The third-year pro appeared in just five games for Carolina this season, recording seven total tackles, including 1.0 sacks, over 56 defensive snaps. Expect Cam Gill to serve as the Panthers' top reserve edge rusher while Barno is sidelined in Week 18.

Panthers' Amare Barno: Active Sunday
Barno (knee) is active for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers, Darin Gantt of the Panthers' official site reports.
The linebacker was activated from injured reserve Saturday. Now, he'll make his season debut after tearing his ACL in December of 2023. Barno played on 180 defensive snaps in 15 regular-season games in 2023, making 21 tackles (13 solo).

Barno is still listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers, but his activation off IR indicates he's on the verge of making his 2024 regular-season debut. Barno is in the final stages of his recovery from a torn ACL that he suffered in December of 2023.

The linebacker was designated to return from the reserve/PUP list Monday, opening his 21-day practice window to practice with the team before either being added to the 53-man roster or staying on PUP for the rest of the season. Barno suffered an ACL injury late in the 2023 campaign and has been on the list since training camp started. The 2022 sixth-round pick played on 180 defensive snaps in 15 games last season, making 21 tackles (13 solo).

Barno saw an 11 percent increase in defense snaps through 15 games last season before suffering an ACL injury. He remains without a specific return day, but his limited work at OTAs, albeit capped, is promising at this point. The 25-year-old has primarily been a depth option on the edge through two years in the league and projects for a similar role in 2024 when his health is back up to par.
