Falcons' Jawaan Taylor: Activated off active/PUP list
The Falcons activated Taylor (elbow) off the active/PUP list Monday, Will McFadden and Tori McElhaney of the team's official site report.
Taylor has spent training camp on the active/PUP list due to an elbow injury he suffered on Thanksgiving Day when the Chiefs lost to the Cowboys. Taylor is back as a full participant in practice and is all set to start at right tackle for the Falcons in 2026.

Falcons' Michael Penix: Still working in 7-on-7 drills
Penix (knee) had some nice plays during 7-on-7 drills at Monday's practice, Tori McElhaney of the Falcons' official site reports.
After suffering a partially torn ACL in his left knee Week 11 of last season, Penix required a full reconstruction to repair the damage. In the offseason, the Falcons signed Tua Tagovailoa to provide competition in the QB room. Penix has yet to progress beyond 7-on-7s, but among his throws Monday was a 25-yarder to TE Kyle Pitts down the right sideline that he fit into a tight window. Per Josh Kendall of The Athletic, coach Kevin Stefanski expects to announce by Wednesday who among Atlanta's quarterbacks -- also, Cooper Rush and Jack Strand -- will play in Friday's preseason game against the Broncos, but considering where Penix stands at the moment, he'll likely be in street clothes for that contest.

Falcons' Trey Sermon: Bound for Atlanta
The Falcons signed Sermon on Monday, Tori McElhaney of the team's official site reports.
Sermon spent the 2025 campaign bouncing between Pittsburgh's practice squad and active roster, but he's now getting another opportunity with a new team. He'll be competing with the likes of Nathan Carter and rookie undrafted free agent Cash Jones for a depth role in Atlanta's backfield in 2026.

Falcons' Cameron Sample: Signs with Atlanta
The Falcons signed Sample (knee) on Monday, Will McFadden and Tori McElhaney of the team's official site report.
Sample was waived by the 49ers on Wednesday with a knee issue. The signing means the linebacker passed his physical and should be good to go for the preseason. Sample should slot in as a third-string option at outside linebacker, right on the edge of a potential 53-man roster spot.

Falcons' Jessie Bates: Progressing through rehab
Bates (back) continued to work with the training staff Monday, Tori McElhaney of the Falcons' official site reports.
Bates suffered a minor back issue at some point in training camp and has been practicing in a limited capacity. The safety has been gradually working his way up to full participation and should be back soon. As Bates continues his recovery, other defensive backs such as Jammie Robinson have seen more snaps with the first-team defense.

Falcons' Divine Deablo: Held out of practice
Deablo (ankle) won't practice Monday, but head coach Kevin Stefanski says the veteran linebacker will return to the field soon, D. Orlando Ledbetter of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports
Deablo left practice Saturday with an ankle injury, but Stefanski indicated little concern about his availability going forward, per Tori McElhaney of the Falcons' official site. The 27-year-old was given the green dot this offseason, setting him up for more responsibility on Atlanta's defense. Deablo played his first season with the Falcons in 2025 after spending his first four in Las Vegas, and he totaled 73 tackles, including 1.0 sacks, as well as seven pass deflections over 13 regular-season games.

Falcons' Tua Tagovailoa: No timetable to name starter
Coach Kevin Stefanski said Monday that the Falcons don't have a timeline to name a starting quarterback for the team's Week 1 game at Pittsburgh, Josh Kendall of The Athletic reports.
Tagovailoa seemingly is the leader in the clubhouse to land the gig for the season opener over Michael Penix, who has yet to join in on team drills in training camp due to his ongoing recovery from the torn ACL that ended his season Week 11 last year. While Stefanski wouldn't commit to a Week 1 starter, he added that he'll make a decision on whether or not Tagovailoa will play in Friday's preseason opener against the Broncos by Wednesday.

Falcons' Jawaan Taylor: Participating in walkthroughs
Taylor (elbow) is still on the Falcons' active/PUP list but has participated in walkthroughs with the team during training camp, D. Orlando Ledbetter of BowTieSports reports.
Taylor opened training camp on the PUP list while recovering from elbow and triceps injuries that caused him to miss the final five games of the regular season as a member of the Chiefs. It's unclear whether he'll be available for the Falcons' preseason opener against the Broncos on Friday, Aug. 14.

Falcons' Zach Harrison: Activated from NFI list
The Falcons activated Harrison (undisclosed) from the active/non-football injury list Friday, William McFadden of the team's official site reports.
The move comes after Harrison passed his physical Friday, putting him on track to participate in Saturday's training camp practice. The 2023 third-rounder was limited to seven regular-season games last year due to a knee injury and ended the 2025 campaign on injured reserve. Harrison is expected to start opposite Brandon Dorlus at defensive end, with Chris Williams and LaCale London working in rotation.

Falcons' Kristian Wilkerson: Headed to Atlanta
The Falcons signed Wilkerson on Friday, Will McFadden of the team's official site reports.
Wilkerson did not play last regular season after missing the cut for the Bills' 53-man roster, but he's now getting another chance with a new squad. Behind Drake London, Atlanta has one of the thinnest receiving corps in the league going into 2026.

Falcons' Jessie Bates: Tending to minor back issue
Coach Kevin Stefanski said Friday that Bates is nursing a "minor" back injury, Marc Raimondi of ESPN.com reports.
Bates could be held out of some drills during training camp, but it doesn't seem like it will affect his availability for Week 1 of the regular season. He figures to occupy one of Atlanta's starting safety spots when healthy in 2026.

Falcons' Jalon Walker: Moves to injured reserve
The Falcons officially placed Walker (knee) on injured reserve Thursday, Will McFadden of the team's official site reports.
Walker was carted off the field at the end of Tuesday's practice, and he was diagnosed with a torn ACL in his left knee a day later, thereby putting an end to his second campaign. He made an impact as a 2025 first-round pick last year, totaling 36 tackles, including 5.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and one pass defense in 15 regular-season games. The likes of Cameron Thomas, Samson Ebukam and Azeez Ojulari are poised for more pass-rush reps alongside starter James Pearce this season.

Falcons' Jalon Walker: ACL tear confirmed
Walker has been diagnosed with an ACL tear, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
As suspected, Walker will need surgery and is set to miss the entire season. Coming off a 5.5-sack rookie campaign, Walker was expected to start at outside linebacker for the Falcons this year. With fellow pass rusher and 2025 draft pick James Pearce facing serious legal issues, Atlanta's pass rush looks to be in poor shape with the season just five weeks away.

Falcons' DeAngelo Malone: Moved to reserve PUP list
The Falcons placed Malone (undisclosed) on the reserve/PUP list Tuesday, Will McFadden of the team's official site reports.
Malone was initially placed on the active/PUP list this past Wednesday due to an undisclosed injury. Now that he's on the reserve/PUP, Malone will be required to miss the entire 2026 season unless he reaches an injury settlement with the Falcons. He appeared in nine regular-season games for Atlanta last year and finished with eight tackles (two solo) and one interception.

Falcons' Jalon Walker: Torn ACL likely
Walker is believed to have suffered a torn ACL during Tuesday's practice, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
On what ended up being the last play of Tuesday's session, Walker remained on the ground following a pass-rush rep and was carted off the field due to a left leg injury, per Josh Kendall of The Athletic. Walker will undergo tests to determine the nature of the issue, but if a torn ACL is confirmed, his second season would be over before it started. As a rookie first-rounder in 2025, he racked up 5.5 sacks among his 36 tackles in 15 regular-season games.

Falcons' Jalon Walker: Carted off with apparent leg injury
Walker was carted off the field with an apparent left leg injury at Tuesday's practice, Tori McElhaney of the Falcons' official site reports.
Walker went down in the backfield while rushing the passer during a two-minute drill. Once he was down, the whole team gathered around him, and the Falcons ended practice with the injury. It sounds ominous and would be a massive blow to Atlanta's pass rush, as 2025 first-rounders Walker and James Pearce are expected to do most of the heavy lifting off the edge for the Falcons this season.

Falcons' Tua Tagovailoa: Trending toward Week 1 start
Tagovailoa (back) is trending toward being the Falcons' Week 1 starting quarterback, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Coach Kevin Stefanski has remained mum as it pertains to who will be under center for the Falcons for the season opener against the Steelers on Sunday, Sept. 13. Having said that, Tagovailoa has been far more active at the beginning of training camp than Michael Penix, the latter of whom continues to rehab the torn ACL that ended his campaign in Week 11 in 2025. Tagovailoa himself has been tending to a back injury, but he was able to elevate to 11-on-11 drills Monday and seems well on his way to getting the call from Stafanski ahead of Week 1. Tagovailoa was limited at Tuesday's practice but hopes to work fully Wednesday, per Marc Raimondi of ESPN.com.

Falcons' Tua Tagovailoa: To be 'limited' Tuesday
Coach Kevin Stefanski said Tagovailoa (back) will be "limited" at Tuesday's practice, Josh Kendall of The Athletic reports.
Tagovailoa has been working through back tightness in the early stages of training camp, and after resuming 11-on-11 work Monday, he'll take a step back one day later. Meanwhile, fellow QB Michael Penix continues to rehab the torn ACL that ended his second campaign in Week 11 of last season. The Falcons' first preseason game occurs Friday, Aug. 14 against the Broncos, so Tagovailoa still has more than a week to put himself in a position for his debut with the team.
