Lakers' LeBron James: Officially available Sunday

Lakers' Cam Reddish: Available Sunday
Reddish (undisclosed) will play in Sunday's preseason matchup against the Suns, Khobi Price of The Orange County Register reports.
Reddish has been dealing with lingering injuries of late, but he will officially be available for the team's second preseason game. Although he is available, head coach JJ Redick stated that Reddish will likely play in the second half, suggesting he is on a minutes restriction as he works back into form.

Lakers' Anthony Davis: Suiting up Sunday
Davis (rest) will play in Sunday's preseason game against the Suns, Mike Trudell of Spectrum SportsNet reports.

Lakers' LeBron James: Plans to play Sunday
James (rest) is expected to play Sunday against the Suns, Mike Trudell of Spectrum SportsNet reports.
This is probably a decision that will be made Sunday before the game, but all signs point to James being available for Sunday's contest against the Suns. That game in Palm Springs will be the Lakers' second preseason contest following Friday's loss to the Timberwolves. James is set to play in his 22nd season in the NBA.

Lakers' Dalton Knecht: Shines in preseason debut
Knecht scored 16 points (7-13 FG, 2-7 3Pt) while adding three rebounds, two assists, a steal and a block in 25 minutes off the bench during Friday's preseason loss to the Timberwolves.
The 17th overall pick in the 2024 Draft flashed the kind of offense he can provide from the second unit for the Lakers this season, tying Austin Reaves for the team scoring lead. Knecht doesn't have a clear path to consistent minutes in a Lakers wing rotation that includes LeBron James, Reaves, Cam Reddish and Max Christie, but if he shows he can fill up the basket against NBA-caliber defenders, the 23-year-old rookie should be able to carve out a role.

Lakers' Austin Reaves: Big night at charity stripe
Reaves scored 16 points (2-9 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 10-10 FT) while adding seven assists, five rebounds and three steals in 25 minutes during Friday's preseason loss to the Timberwolves.
While the fourth-year guard struggled to find his shot, Reaves still tied for the team lead in scoring on the night with rookie Dalton Knecht thanks to his success at the free-throw line. Reaves also led the Lakers in assists and steals, a good early sign that he figures to be a key figure for the team at both ends of the court this season. The 26-year-old posted career-best numbers in 2023-24 with 15.9 points, 5.5 assists, 1.9 threes and 0.8 steals over 82 regular-season games, but he may not have found his ceiling yet.

Lakers' Jordan Goodwin: Doesn't feature Friday
Goodwin (hamstring) didn't play in Friday's 124-107 preseason loss to the Timberwolves.
Goodwin has been dealing with a hamstring issue, so it wasn't surprising to see him being held out of the preseason opener. His next chance to play will come against the Suns on Sunday, but it wouldn't be shocking if he sits a few more games in preseason. Goodwin is on an Exhibit 10 deal with the Lakers and is competing for a regular-season roster spot.

Lakers' LeBron James: Won't play Friday
James (rest) will be held out of Friday's preseason opener versus the Timberwolves, Dave McMenamin of ESPN.com reports.
James will likely be under a minutes restriction throughout the preseason, giving coach JJ Redick a chance to further evaluate the second unit of Dalton Knecht, Jarred Vanderbilt and Cam Reddish (undisclosed/soreness). Redick said Thursday that both James and Anthony Davis would play at some point this weekend, likely leaving James to make his preseason debut Sunday against the Suns.
